  • Celsius is just as good at describing temperatures humans experience. Every 5o is 'category':

    < -10o Cripes it's cold!

    -10 to -5o Cold

    -5 to 0o Snow/ice will melt

    0o 'true' freezing/melting temperature

    0 to 5o Cool

5 to 10o Brisk, jacket optional

10 to 15o Cool, Comfortable to work

    15 to 20o Cold house

20 to 25o Typical house temps

    25 to 30o Shorts recommended

    30 to 35o Hot

    35 to 40o Severely hot

    '> 40o Crazy hot.

It's simply just getting used to the values which you have to do with F too anyways, and IMO the C scale just makes far more sense. With F none of the values are intuitive and require you to learn them all.

  • Most crimes have a State and Federal equivalent. The legal particulars of a case deciding which variant a suspect gets charged with. For example a State may have a charge for 'Intent to Distribute Narcotics' which a suspect with 10kilos of coke gets arrested for during a traffic stop. The investigation reveals the suspect had driven into the charging state from an adjacent one. Boom: Federal charge now. In Trump's case they may try, or have tried, to argue that it is a federal case due to the relation to interfering with the national election. IMO this will strongly suggest the pardon plan is their intent because Federal cases are more severe, with higher penalties and stronger conviction rates than their equivalent State variants. The only reason I can see wanting to risk greater penalties is the possibility of getting SCOTUS to rule on the appeal and that Trump could pardon himself if elected.

  • That'll buy a lot of Ramen noodles from the commissary.

  • He could simply get parole, but if he does get any Jail time it will be delayed until his defence team have exhausted their appeals. Definitely won't see jail before the election sadly.

  • There's nothing 'disingenuous' about calling it a 'loss'. It clearly states they posted a 7 bill NET loss. Not projected, not relative to the past... net. loss. They paid $7 bill to stay in business this year and are cancelling dividends. Their sales of gas reduce by more than 50% in 1 year. They aren't 'welcoming' anything. They are praying doing business in Asian markets will be enough to bring them back to profitability and the latter half of the article makes it clear this is very unlikely for a few years at least.

This is imo the best news I've read all year in that it shows strong evidence the sanctions are working. I just hope they hurt enough that Russia retreats from Ukraine, and gives up their plan of continental conquest for good, but I'm not holding my breath.

  • Just use I2P? Can you access public trackers via I2P or do you have to use the crap internal ones?

  • this is far more likely to make things like recovery from quadriplegia possible.

  • Thanks. I literally slept on it and woke up thinking this :)

  • Tor Browser would probably be the easiest if least performant way.

  • You believing the accusation of wanting to be a russian bot is insulting is proof you do understand the reality you are so vehemently arguing against. I'll take the win and bid you good day as I remove your vile pollution from my life. Thank you for making your, and this Communities ridiculous hypocrisy so apparent. What's Russian for 'have a nice life you pitiful blight on society'? NM don't bother answering. I won't see it :)

  • No, you're using an out of date historical anecdote to generalize all usage of Ukraine's national slogan as pro Nazi. Way to drink the Russian Koolaid! The list of people that use the slogan that aren't Nazis is far larger and includes the Ukrainian President of ... Jewish descent. It's sad that the Mods fell for this.

  • No, just no. If you want strangers to take what you say seriously then you should show the simplest respect by supporting your claims with the reason(s) you have them. Laziness is flapping your mouth off and expecting to not have to back it up.

  • They just announced they're removing the coins/awards system.

  • I agree, but, you'd be surprised how many people find many of these seemingly innocuous distinctions offensive (if only a little bit). For example, I was once chided by HR for saying 'no problem' during a seemingly friendly discussion.

  • The whole conversation is a facepalm. This should have been 3 lines:

"What's the last song you saved?"

'I am not comfortable sharing that information with you'

"Okay, if you're aren't willing to let me get to know your basic interests clearly this isn't the kind of relationship I'm looking for. Good luck and have a nice day" [ends transmission]

  • Oh, oh. Is it too late to put 'unfunny and old 10 years ago attempts at recycled wit by people not smart enough to come up with their own unique sentence" on the list?

  • The culture of misspelling lose with loose, excusing it and down-voting to oblivion anyone that dares point out the mistake. "Sorry, is that wrong? English is my second means of communicating with other Homo Sapiens and it was an honest typographical error on my part. Please accept my sincerest apologies." (original comment remains unedited to fix the typo)
