My first seagate HD started clicking as I was moving data to it from my older drive just after I purchased it. This was way back in the 00s. In a panic, I started moving data back to my older hd (because I was moving jnstead of copying) and then THAT one started having issues also.
Turns out when I overclocked my CPU I had forgotten to lock the PCI bus, which resulted in an effective overclock of the HDD interfaces. It was ok until I tried moving mass amounts of data and the HDD tried to keep up instead of letting the buffer fill up and making the OS wait.
I reversed the OC and despite the HDDs getting so close to failure, both of them lasted for years after that without further issue.
With the 9/11 reference above, it had a similar effect on airport security. The TSA has been making traveling hell ever since and I'm not sure if they've actually stopped any real threats (cursory search says nope).
When things are going well, billionaires make lots of money but people who are comfortable pick and choose what they are willing to sell. They have income so want to hold on to their assets while they pay their expenses using that income. They can also commit to financial obligations while being confident their income will cover it.
When things aren't going so well, income can fall and force people to sell assets to cover their expenses. And those financial obligations can end up underwater, forcing them to give up assets.
At the end of the day, wealth isn't money. That's just the vehicle used to access wealth. Real wealth is things like property ownership, means of production, the resources to feed that production, food and fuel to keep it all going, weapons to protect yours and attack others', followers to do your bidding (that generally need to be paid in access to the others).
This strongly depends on both the area and the individual officers. And sometimes your skin colour, unfortunately. Also the condition of your vehicle, like a new porsche might be allowed to get away with a higher speed than a rust-bucket (or, on the other hand, that new porsche might attract more attention and/or envy).
I try to drive in the rightmost lane where I can maintain my desired speed without needing to weave back and fourth, unless someone is coming up behind me, in which case I'll reduce my threshold for moving to the right to let them by, unless they are driving aggressively enough that I think there's a high chance they'll pass on the right after I've passed someone but before I'm far enough ahead of whoever I just passed to move over.
Oh one more exception for if the right lane is clear but there's an onramp with cars, I'll leave them the right lane to merge into and move over once I've passed them. I'll also avoid cruising in front of semis if I can.
Righteous Suicide or Self-righteous Suicide? Haven't heard anything about it either way, but asking because the second is in the lyrics and would be more apt.
Though IMO Chop Suey is an even better name because of the imagery it conjures combined with the meaning of the song. It's pretty graphic like a holy fuck moment when you connect the dots.
I think another part of it is that the art itself isn't often overtly political. Maybe that even plays into the sense of betrayal because of how often the politics they support aren't ones that can be talked about openly and they feel like since they avoid saying what they are thinking, everyone else should also.
I got one of those USB dongles that can charge and output analog sound to aux.
There's a whine that matches my RPMs because the thing doesn't isolate the voltage from the charger and the audio signal that well. Luckily it isn't very audible when it's being driven (the sound, not the car). Oh I also need to unlock my phone before it even drives it and it takes a bit for it to switch over.
The phone needs to convert to analog to drive the speakers anyways, just fucking stick a mux on that to decide whether it drives the speaker amp or an aux wire. If the jack was too thick, imo it would have been better to introduce a new smaller analog jack standard.
You should give them a listen. Their sound is amazing and I can't really blame people for enjoying without really listening to the words. It wouldn't surprise me if you hear some and realize you've known them for decades without realizing.
My top ones: Toxicity, Deer Dance, Aerials, Chop Suey, Spiders, Lost in Hollywood, BYOB, Hypnotize
Yeah, I guess it's important to remember bands aren't monoliths and some members themselves might even be the subject of In Bloom. And even having some leanings on particular topics doesn't mean agreement on all topics.
Did some digging and while there are some right leaning bands on my "I've enjoyed their music" list, none of them came as a surprise, like Leonard Skynyrd, Kid Rock, Five Finger Death Punch.
Guess self-awareness isn't equal between right and left wings. Which is maybe even illustrated by being curious about this in the first place. Or maybe I'm overgeneralizing my own experience lol.
All of their songs are. It just occurred to me that SoaD might be one of the most political bands out there, up there with RatM. Which made me curious if there were many right wing fans that complained about them getting political because they didn't realize they were saying that all along. And of course there were.
Guess it's why Cobain sang about it over 30 years ago.
He's the one who likes all our pretty songs...
Though now I'm wondering what bands I've enjoyed without realizing they were fascist leaning lol.
And to expand on what the other commenter said, considering the logical side of it, those seeds seem very optimized to ride air currents around the entire hemisphere, especially when there's a storm that can get them very high up.
