  • Considering the Steam Deck is the PC handheld market leader, doesn't run the bloat that is Windows 11, and is vastly cheaper than the Ally X, I'm really confused on why they didn't include it in the comparison. Literally not even a mention of the Steam Deck in the article.

The Ally X is a really, really bad value proposition compared to the Steam Deck. A 3-way comparison would have been much more interesting.

  • It's awesome we finally have a way to test and benchmark this. It has long been something one would notice, something that would make games feel like shit. But there was never a way to put a number on it before today.

  • Thank you for being the only person in the thread to answer the question.

  • As an aside, Rapid Dragon is pretty damn cool, and I see it as the future of cruise missile deployment. It is by far the simplest and cheapest way to deploy cruise missiles en-mass. Mostly because it lets you use your existing air-lift capability, rather than requiring specialized platforms for deployment.

Note: It won't replace VLS cells, which are the way to do naval and ground launched missile deployment. Take a look at HIMARS, which is basically a smaller VLS cell erector/launcher:

  • I think it's the latter. I suspect tomahawk's software assumes they are being initially fired in roughly the 'up' direction (see every iteration so far of anything that fires a tomahawk). This would present issues when deployed as part of rapid dragon, which dumps missiles in roughly the 'down' direction when leaving the pallet. There is no technical reason this cannot be accounted for in the software, I simply suspect it hasn't been. Modifying and testing the software would take time.

Since they are already fired out of a VLS cell, something that is purposefully modular and unconcerned to what it is attached to, we have lots of great ground-based options. All you really need to do is get the VLS cell roughly vertical and you are good to go.

  • get the last piece of my hardware dependence off...my 20 year old DAC

The $9 Apple DAC is unironically good. I can confirm it is plug-and-play with Mint.

Edit: To be clear, it is good if you just need an audio output (the core feature of a DAC). If you want crazy DAC features, it clearly isn't it.

  • For a desktop OS, I have been recommending Linux Mint to new Linux users. The UI feels familiar to a Windows veteran, and the initial setup is designed to be user friendly.

However, don't fret too much over it. Distros are mostly just a pre-configuration of the OS, all of them can do everything.

  • The issue isn't it not working, the issue is security updates no longer being made. Feel free to keep using 10, just don't put it on the network.

  • You can, but you won't be getting security updates. Best to not put an OS without security updates on the network.

  • Being able to quickly get out of a burning car is important. If you only ever use the electronic door handle and your electrical system is damaged by...the fire, then you are much more likely to burn. The same problem exists on the outside of the car as rescuers have a harder time getting in to save people.

Getting stuck outside of the car in the winter is also pretty common when there is not a good place to grab when the door is covered in ice.

Car manufacturers have been making normal door handles for forever. Tesla 'fixed' something that wasn't broken.

  • I have had to put quite a bit of force into a car door to get it to open on many an occasion. (Ice is a bitch) A normal door handle just works, stop trying to fix it!

  • Seriously. Every other car maker has figured out how to make normal door handles. You can even buy the parts directly from them if you find it too hard to design yourself.

  • The good news is there are other places that do this still:

Is There Any Deal shows the price history for video games. This one I particularly like as it is good at showing you other stores that often have better prices.

And Camel Camel Camel does this for Amazon.

  • The best situation for consumers is for games to come out on as many platforms as possible. Exclusives are cancer. It's awesome to see less and less of them every generation.

  • Fuck yeah!

  • I'm happy someone else came back to this. I'm amazed at how many votes the OP got here while literally just making shit up.

Are people really this blinded to just....basic facts?
