  • One of the only things no amount of money can buy: consent

  • That fronto-temporal lobe is just fucking gone, it's a matter of weeks before he admits stuff live on TV

  • Did they conspire to kill public transit ? Did big tobacco conspire to falsify health studies ? Did the agro industry conspire to make fat the big bad ? Does the bear shit in the woods ?

  • And Trump ate babies and shat himself on camera, it's basically the same!

  • Fair, markdown, git and pandoc could work but, it might be too big of a jump for someone used to Word

  • Is Word mandatory or is Word compatible good enough ?

Because LibreOffice is pretty good, you could even push it further with pandoc, inputting markdown and outputting word documents.

Otherwise, as others suggested, Wine with an older Office version should do the trick

  • Sorry we got caught, we'll just profit off it and make it less obvious next time

  • First gold and silver tank, then Microsoft, now a bank goes under. Could this the beginning of the AI bubble burst ?

  • I get where you're coming from, but perfect is the enemy of good enough. You can't expect everyone to go vegan, but you can encourage people to give up as many animal products as possible.

That would already be a massive step in the right direction

  • Given what's unredacted in these files, I can't even begin to imagine what they redacted

  • It was a joke about the "destruction of the thinking machines enslaving us" part, not the space fascism part

  • Cant wait for the butlerian jihad !

  • Encrypted from your phone to Meta, then from Meta to your contacts!

  • That's another, even more complex, debate indeed.

But a sizable chunk of the internet and government infrastructure in Europe relies heavily on American technology.

All the AWS, Microsoft, Google services are a massive security threat, especially because we know that they'll bend to the whims of the orange buffoon if required. They can literally paralyse Europe at the push of a button.

  • Fucking do it, we need to understand how reliant we are on them and how dire the situation actually is. People like the FSF, the EFF and so on have warned us about this for decades at this point.

  • German cars too, why would your car need to gather data on you in the first place

  • I should have said "Currently, some of the countries" indeed. I'll correct it.

The biggest difference between, let's say Bangladesh and Germany is that in Bangladesh, most of the damage happens to people, in richer countries the damages are heavily material...

  • Currently, some of the countries most directly affected by climate change are in Europe, like Spain, Switzerland, Germany and France.

  • I'm pretty positive they all believe that once Trump dies/goes away, everything will be back to normal, and that's why they don't want to burn bridges with the US.

It's an absolutely insane take that shows how much that shithole holds us all by the balls. We should be moving away from anything they provide, it's an insanely dangerous situation
