How many people do verify the information ?Also, last time I did check, the source actually was some text hallucinated by a LLM even though I had specifically asked it to only use scientific sources.I only found out because I also checked the sources quoted in this text and found out said sources simply didn't exist.
At least your mom has metacognition : she knows what she does and doesn't know and would probably tell you when she doesn't have relevant knowledge instead of making something up.
I mean obviously you'd use DMSO or glycerol, I just didn't want to get too technical. That being said I've always snap-frozen bacteria with LN2 and it worked just fine.
Now for eucaryotic cells, sure, you'd want to go slow.
Edit : ok now re-reading the meme I understand why you thought I was talking about eucaryotic cells. My bad !
You'd actually want to freeze them as fast as possible, to prevent the growth of large ice crystals that would tear the cell apart. That's why you do it by dunking them in liquid nitrogen.
But yeah frozen bacteria are basically immortal.
That's like saying bulletproof vests should be mandatory when you're having a walk in the woods, because it would protect you in case a hunter shoots at you by mistake. You're the one driving the 2 tons of lethal steel, it's on you to make sure you do so safely.
People are increasingly living in their own version of reality that is utterly irreconcilable with that of everyone else. In these conditions, how can we come in agreement about anything?
Coin aussi !
