  • The steam deck is nice, but you have to throttle a lot of games performance. And that's on an already very small screen. I have played the crap out of my steam deck, but there are some games that just don't work super well. The difference is just the power of the components, primarily CPU and GPU, but also RAM and SSD speeds. It would expect the mini gaming PC to be more expensive than the handheld, if the expectation is that you can play any large AAA game at (basically) full specs with good frame rate. You can't do that for cheap. I also don't expect the price point to be a problem

  • What is life if you aren't spending some of it on stuff you enjoy doing? Adults should be able to spend large amounts of money on stuff that is primarily a toy if they enjoy that toy. I get it if you're saying you literally cannot afford to eat and buy that expensive of a toy, but for most people saving their pennies for long enough warrants buying an expensive toy. It's also fine if you prefer spending your money on experiences rather than things, but saying it's an invalid purchase because it's a toy is pretty silly.

There are definitely decent adobe alternatives. Though I am a little worried about what Canva is doing to affinity.

  • It's only believed by the same people that already that he was a traitor to the USA and should be in prison. The people that rightfully consider him a hero haven't changed their beliefs

  • The primary cause of lead's toxicity is its interference with a variety of enzymes because it binds to sulfhydryl groups found on many enzymes.[22] Part of lead's toxicity results from its ability to mimic other metals that take part in biological processes ... Among the essential metals that lead displaces in this way are calcium, iron, and zinc.[186]

The brain is the organ most sensitive to lead exposure.[77] Lead can pass through the endothelial cells at the blood brain barrier because it can substitute for calcium ions and be taken up by calcium-ATPase pumps.[203]

The targeting of NMDA receptors is thought to be one of the main causes for lead's toxicity to neurons.[202]

The half-life of lead in bone has been estimated as years to decades, and bone can introduce lead into the bloodstream long after the initial exposure is gone.[182][183][184] The half-life of lead in the blood in men is about 40 days, but it may be longer in children and pregnant women, whose bones are undergoing remodeling, which allows the lead to be continuously re-introduced into the bloodstream.[26]

Stainless steel is generally considered to be biologically inert. However, during cooking, small amounts of nickel and chromium leach out of new stainless steel cookware into highly acidic food.[115] Nickel can contribute to cancer risks—particularly lung cancer and nasal cancer.[116][117] However, no connection between stainless steel cookware and cancer has been established.

Lead is very different in its toxicity. Chromium is not nearly as toxic, and in fact trivalent chromium is an essebtial nutrient:

Trivalent chromium is a trace mineral that is essential to human nutrition

Of course wikipedia isn't an official source, but almost all statement's link to reliable sources

  • Not acknowledging it is the best way to go. People will only think about what a dick the bus driver was, and likely will think little to nothing about you. If you fight back, people will be pissed for holding them up longer, not think more of you

  • Lmao, I get one comment saying of course it's fake and another suggesting it's obviously real.

It makes the most sense that somebody saw this image and thought it looked like the given caption. It's a funny personification, but almost definitely not real. I think it would have been just as funny if they prefaced the text with "it looks like...". But in the grand scheme of the world, lying on cat posts is by far the lowest on the list of concerns. But then again, so is my comment pointing out they lied.

  • Ahh, classic "here is a picture of cat(s) with made up caption". It's funny, but it definitely did not happen.

  • It's often about imposter syndrome. People don't feel like they belong, when really they often are the same as their peers. So if they just pretend like the belong they can keep the facade until their imposter syndrome goes away.

  • Frustration/anger is an easy emotion to provoke. It is much easier for anyone creating content to get clicks by making people mad. The title was intentionally sensationalized to get clicks, which is just the world we live in. Youtube videos perform better when it is provoking, podcasts get more listeners, news channels/sites get more watch time/site views. The headline could have just as easily said "Reddit's r/Aviation Moderators Temporarily Delete NASA Astronaut's Image for Quality Reasons, Then Restore It" but nobody would click on that because it's not a story.

Obviously there is a lot of animosity towards Reddit, but the animosity of tech companies is so widespread you could name any large tech company and make a sensationalized or clickbait headline.

  • “We completely acknowledge that the post was removed in error and that this removal should not have occurred in the first place,” they wrote. “We have talked with all the moderators on the team to ensure that this does not happen again. We are committed to fixing our mistakes, and we reapproved the post as soon as we were made aware of the issue.”

Really don't think this is that news worthy, in the end. It was some new guy that didn't do his research on the post, and just assumed it was a blurry picture of an airplane from the ground. Once the more experienced mods were notified, they restored the post and apologized. It's a pretty sensationalized headline, though that's to be expected I suppose

  • the very fucking obvious answer that satisfies both questions is, “they don’t have a fucking choice”

You are comparing two things that are categorically different. Horses are not moral agents like people are, so slavery literally cannot apply. No animal has moral choices. We do not arrest an animal for breaking laws, because laws cannot apply to an animal. The issue with riding horses is one of welfare, not consent or freedom.

  • Are you saying those slaves are basically animals? Or that horses are basically people? I'm assuming you're more so going for the latter, which is still a wild idea. They are domesticated animals, not people.

With your logic, just think of all the enslaved cats and dogs being forced to live in homes with lots of pets and constantly be fed and loved. Does animal cruelty happen? Of course. But to suggest domesticated horses are being enslaved because people have ridden horses for 5,000 years is truly a wild take.

  • It's there for me. It seems like they took away the "View image" option, which would open the image in the same tab rather than a new one?

  • The feature would likely need to be enabled to take advantage of such vulnerability in said feature.

  • What is the bread? Pita? Naan? Pumpernickel?

  • I mean, there is a single button to disable all AI

  • It's elementary school. They'd probably just explain it and have them try again.
