  • Lots of pro AI astroturfing and whataboutisms in these comments... 🤢

  • But he isn't speaking the truth. AI itself is a massive strain on the environment, without any true benefit. You are being fed hype and lies by con men. Data centers being built to supply AIs are using water and electricity at alarming rates, taking away the resources from actual people living nearby, and raising the cost of those utilities at the same time.

  • I use a butter knife just fine to cut and pit an avocado

  • Not denying bad comes from politics, especially in regards to the US, clearly we are seeing a lot of awful things that can come from politics, and religion likes to play politics as well. I am and will continue to refuse that religion is capable of producing good will, change for the better, or anything outside of bringing forth hate and destruction

  • We could get unions, consumer protections, housing and food and other necessities guaranteed. We don't, but we could. Politics is just trying to solidify how things are run. Obviously easily can be used for abuse, but can be used for good. Religion from the first step is to tell you how bad of a person you are and how to resolve it: join a cult, deny personal responsibility for anything and put that on whatever deity or subject for hate at the time, all your answers should be sought through your religion and not outside sources

  • But what undeniable good thing comes from religion? It's not just that they have the potential for destruction and hate, it's that those are the only possible outcomes

  • And what happens when mechahitler the next version of Grok or whatever AI hosted by a large corporation that only has the interest of capital gains comes out with unannounced injected prompt poisoning that doesn't produce quality output like you've been conditioned to expect?

These AI are good if you have a general grasp of whatever you are trying to find, because you can easily pick out what you know to be true and what is obviously a ridiculous mess of computer generated text that is no smarter than your phone keyboard word suggestions AI hallucination.

Trying to soak up all the information generated by AI in a topic without prior knowledge may easily end up with you not understanding anything more than you did before, and possibly give you unrealistic confidence that you know what is essentially misinformation. And just because an AI pulls up references, unless you do your due diligence to read those references for accuracy or authority on the subject, the AI may be hallucinating where it got the wrong information it's giving you.

  • I've seen all these complaints for the product owner/manager doing nothing and maybe I have different experiences, but the one in my team seems to say least somewhat keep up with what the business wants and what the developers can accomplish. Albeit still just a middle manager that doesn't do much actual work. The scrum master on the other hand does literally nothing but pretend to act as a bad babysitter for the team and doesn't provide anything. Can't truly grasp what he gets paid for other than having a scrum master certificate (presumably writing his name in crayon on it).

  • I think you're accidentally highlighting the problem. Everyone is waiting for someone else to do something because they don't want to risk what life/luxuries they have
