  • Nobody tell my wife this.

  • Producing art is labor

That doesn't really mean anything. Marxism is about social labour, not just work. It's more important that people are able to survive and do art outside capitalist production than it is to try to make art profitable for workers in capitalism. All you're doing is creating/sustaining labour aristocrats and petite-bourgeois sentiments in society. Especially when we're talking about fucking explicitly-pulp smut literature here, which is definitely not something we need or want the state to be funding.

Notice Cuba, DPRK, etc. aren't funding that.

  • Ahhh.

  • My wife does that when she finds out I've been going to the strip club in GTAV again.

  • I will add it to my list. I've not read or watched any Fujimoto work/adaptations other than Lookback here.

  • Like a review? Or what kind of summary/abridgements are people doing for 1-hour movies?

  • We shouldn't be trying to restore profitability to art. Not taking a side either way concerning the porn stuff, but it's extremely bourgeois to think the problem with art under capitalism is importantly that the artists aren't getting enough money to do it.

  • DPRK film director:

  • I cried a little, yeah. Was touched by how the credits had her drawing alone as the night progresses through the window, for some reason. Not sure what it is about credits like that where the world continues on affects me. Even the Pokemon movies doing it gets me a little emotional.

  • Are British zionists actually doing this shit on their phones? Looked up the IP address trying to add the antisemitism bit.

  • I don't know if this is specific to anyone, but a lot of people have like layered arguments that go from "Seemingly kind, but ideologically unsound" to progressively more "seemingly unkind, but more ideologically honest". They start with the nice-sounding ones that sound nice to people and I don't know what the actual process by which they reveal their actual views since it seems like bad optics to do that rather than give up but maybe there's hubris and the need for people to reveal their true selves to each other causing it. Or maybe because they think quitting the debate costs them more respect than continuing to argue.

  • Yeah, the anti-war left getting crushed by national chauvinism from the right and pseudo-left and stuff isn't boding well.

  • I've created a care package DM that I send every user who gets a post removed. It includes the phone number to an international suicide hotline, a .GIF of Rei Ayanami smiling (original series), a selection from 101 motivational sayings generated by DeepSeek, various compliments on their posting style, and a 60,000 word personal testimony on how I learned to overcome the psycho-terror of being digitally silenced.

  • You'd think with all their fucking data harvesting they could at least make the internet a convenient experience. YouTube somehow doesn't know what language I'd want CC/auto-translated subtitles despite never using the website in any language other than English.

  • You're correct and it's sad.

I blame the mods for this.
