Labour was voted in as the best way to get the tories out. Not because people actually wanted labour. Strategic voting, it was referred as.
Labour have just continued the tories policies though including their very controversial online safety act, digital id and asylum hotels, among many other controversial policies.
I would vote them again though if it means keeping reform out but honestly I cant agree with or take seriously any of the available parties. All are absolutely terrible, useless, liars, and cannot back up their claims or have a reasonable way of funding them without screwing something else majorly and causing backlash.
"I'm bouta split" is one i once said at a pub with my friends out of the blue. They found it hilarious and so i still say it occasionally when it feels right. Sometimes they steal it from me too.
I tried xbox 360 edition again a few months ago after repairing my xbox 360 and i forgot how choppy it is. I spent so many long hours on that around 2013/14. I still have it all on there.
This is what i need so i can finally delete facebook but unfortunately this is too early and small with nothing piblically uk based and no one looking at it so things would never sell.
I tried Searxng but it just wasnt giving good results at all. And lacked far too many features of a modern search engine imo.
The thing is you kinda have to trust the word of all companies with how they collect your data and how they monetise themselves. I still think startpage is one of the best alternatives for privacy. Also my adblockers seem to work fine on startpage's ad links so i dont see them.
I was considering tutanota but it felt too small and lacking some features that proton seemed better for. I may look at it again.
I cannot move from simple login though. I bought a lifetime plan which also includes proton pass and i use simple login extensively now.
I do use a custom domain but not for most things which i use simple login domains. My custom domain uses my full name and i dont want that associated with some random newsletter or game company etc. But important services are on my custom domain so not the end of the world and can change them all. I dont know who could replace simple login though.
I saw people mentioning an open source and self hostable search engine (SearXNG) which is cool and I tried it out but it gives not very good results. I tried searching for specific sites and it would show anything but. But it's fine for general info.
I still don't think there is anything else other than startpage that is as private while giving good search results. I don't believe that startpage is collecting data on users like google/Microsoft do and I don't think duckduckgo is as good in that regard either. It still makes sense for startpage to be owned by an advertising company since it does show ads mixed with the search results. The difference is they are not personalised or tracked to you (so they say).
So if you have any evidence of System1/startpage tracking users and collecting personalised data on users for anything other than general usage and diagnostic analytics then I think it's fine. If you do, then I will stop using and recommending it.
