White people sit up there and shame the food and other cultural aspects of someone’s life and unfortunately that trickles down into the minds of poc who want to now be seen as “healthy”, “clean”, and/or otherwise acceptable in the eyes of white people.
im telling you if i had no morals becoming a poc right wing grifter is such an easy layup, just get a mic and film yourself podcast style saying things that are compl wrong but you just have to say it in that podcaster voice and they’ll eat up the slop
This does read like a hit piece against chicanismo, and it should be! Yeah the whole aztlan shit is very settler colonial and appropriates a lot of stuff from pueblos originarios. Like the danza azteca stuff that’s just new age religion and spirituality co opting dances from pueblos originarios.
I luckily never fell into that stuff because for whatever reason I felt iffy about it when i first heard about it and ignored it but i understand the crisis it causes in your mexican identity. It’s important to remember though that there is an incredibly rich mexican identity both in the “standard” mexican culture and more importantly the culture and identity of pueblo originarios. I also felt kind of lost or stranded in where exactly my identity lied but a big thing for me is realizing i don’t have to box myself into one identity, we are who we are based off of our lived experiences.
As far as actually feeling like you belong the biggest thing that helped me is immersion. even just joining online communities based out of mexico is great, also i feel like mexicans from mexico tend to be much less reactionary and usian brain coded so that’s always nice lol. sorry for the word slop, i just got off work and have been reading the naked lunch so my brain is fried.
Cotton linen blends are great for tops. While cotton does use a lot of water it’s very good for jeans; i recommend raw selvedge denim, it does have some special considerations mainly being initial cost (which has gone down) and the fact that’s its unwashed so you can get the indigo dye on to your shoes and shirt. What makes raw selvedge denim so great is how well constructed it is so it last forever and as you wear and wash it, it starts to lighten in color so when they became a very faded light blue you practically have a new pair of jeans you can style. Hemp is cool too, i’ve only bought from patagonias hemp line and its is expensive but it’s definitely the most comfortable most durable clothes i own.
potentially border towns but some like san diego may be a target for other bombing due to the bases there. thank god most other countries seem to understand what a civilian is and tend to just strike strategic installations so even then you should be fine and it’s a quick trip over to the amazing city of tijuana
Just hit the half way point of ultimate spider (2004) and man it’s very good but also very weird at times, norman osborn is more of a weird sex pest in this one and it definitely feels like a reflection of the times but overall still a good read.
Much more enjoyable are the absolute comics i’m keeping up with, very woke at times without being too lib. Current rankings are 1. martian manhunter 2. superman 3. batman 4. wonder woman 5. flash 6. green lantern
i also strongly dislike tomato and love tomato adjacent dishes. only way i can eat tomato soup is with a grilled cheese. there’s other types of tomato soup that are better tho because they add basil or cream or other stuff, i like those more but still need a grilled cheese

I recommend Beyond Machismo. Good book that I think pushes a bit more into Bell Hooks points about how our patriarchal is not beneficial for men either. Also please add me to the ping list
Didn’t watch the video but as a user of it, it is the best transit i’ve ever used. From maps that i’ve seen it looks like NYC’s system reaches more places but is also a lot slower and prone to congestion. Everything from the protected bus lanes that are usually only used by buses to an amazing metro line that typically drops you off at a bus station. Also its so heavily subsidized that most fares are 5-8 pesos, and other than the big mainlines you don’t necessarily have to pay so it makes it that much more accessible.
