It gives young people in a bad home situation an out which their parents can't question. And if you really don't want to do military service, there are a million ways to avoid it.

  • I don't think it's because of the internet/algorithm. You can see a lot of similarities in attitude when looking at the rise of fascism in Europe before the second world war. "Me ne frego" or "I don't care" was a popular slogan for Italian fascists. They also saw themselves as fighters for freedom and national security.

  • Find the time to go outside during work hours. Take a little walk or something. It's easy for me since I used to be a smoker but I get how it would make other people uncomfortable. If you live in a northern country it's very likely you have the right to these kinds of breaks.
