  • I moved to Sweden recently and one of my friends is showing me all the best treats. Semlor my goodness I don't even like almonds but these things are amazing. I found out just a couple days ago eating them in a bowl of varm mjölk is a thing too? They're already so messy to eat but that sounds too good to not try

  • I will say the area I'm living in northern Sweden has a new green steel plant being constructed. I'm thrilled such things exist but they're also obliterating the local housing market. I'm trying to find student housing and it's fucking impossible because companies stopped catering to the several nearby colleges and are instead tripling rent and marketing to the construction workers. I wish they had put some thought into avoiding this before they fired up a massive construction project in a small town.

  • During the height of blm in Seattle my complex had protests and various gasses going by it. Some of the tenants tried to get rent reduced or have leases cut early. Our landlords raised the rent the legal max, about 10%

  • So I mean this from a place of curiosity not trying to get you all to change anything, I'm not even vegetarian. Is there a particular reason your wife couldn't do several smaller meals over the day? Like do their organs not allow something like that anymore or more like it would be ridiculous to carry around a bag of beans to snack on over the course of 4 hours?

  • I spent years trying to change things. Protests, donating to younger people more capable of direct action than me, building community, and yes voting too because we have to use all our tools. It became too dangerous for my aging trans ass and I managed to find myself in a position to move to Sweden. I don't know if I'll ever stop feeling guilty about it but it's so much better outside the US. I'm still giving what I can to my community back in the US but at this point it's more like using scotch tape to fix a stab wound. You better believe though if the US comes for Greenland I'm going to do everything I can to help my new neighbors
