  • It doesn't fit your narrative, but the civilian/military casualty numbers are on the high side of normal for urban combat.

Super weird to defend distributing Hamas propaganda. Helping them hurts Palestinians too, who generally don't like Hamas.

  • You're including both civilian and soldier deaths (which is what Hamas wants you to do, don't help them). Best estimates are now 8-10k Hamas soldiers, 16-18k civilians.

  • Bystander, noun: "a person who is present at an event or incident but does not take part."

They were bystanders until they were taken hostage. Now they're being forced to take part involuntarily, which makes them victims.

Super weird point to fight on. Obviously there are victims in every war.

  • They look more like victims to me, being taken hostage for 4 months and all. But you do you

  • Fun fact: the US Chamber of Commerce is not a government agency. It's just a private (nonprofit) business that loves to be confused with one.

  • That's a fair point. I don't know to what extent they were involved in negotiations. I think it was significant as we've had several days of news about "constructive" negotiations, but I can't prove that.

  • Ok but if they have no interest in a ceasefire or hostage exchange, then they are by definition negotiating in bad faith...

  • Sounds like you guys are just mad an international court disagreed with you. If that makes them "illegitimate", then you don't actually want justice.

    Inb4 seething

  • You including the hostages in that?

  • In what universe would a ceasefire be counterproductive to Hamas? They're getting wrecked on a daily basis.

I don't think they have 35 "returnable" hostages at this point.

  • Holy shit 4000 prisoners for 35 hostages and Hamas still says no. Pretty clear they're not negotiating in good faith.

  • Since an indecent chunk of people here seem to not consider Israeli's as human, you should be aware that Hamas has a history of using Palestinian children as suicide bombers.

  • Even if that were true, which it isn't, Japan isn't a party to the ruling. They can choose to donate their own money (or not) however they want.

I suggest you read the actual ruling and dissenting opinion, they're quite informative.

  • This isn't remotely true but ok

  • More accurate title: "Palestinian Authority office in Norway continues to support UNRWA despite it's members allegedly participating in October 7th attack"

The allegations are widely believed and cannot accurately be called "false Israeli allegations".

Also this source is literally a terrorist propaganda network. From wikipedia:

[Almayadeen] is a Hezbollah-aligned Lebanese pan-Arabist satellite news television channel based in the city of Beirut.

  • Horrifying, but not surprising. Remember the UNRWA teachers celebrating October 7th? Seems like over the last decade Hamas has really got into the organization.

  • Quite the contrary, Israel removed them unilaterally 20 years ago. Doesn't really fit your narrative though so feel free to dump a wall of text with conspiracy-tier sources.

  • Realistically I don't see any way Israel would accept a truce that leaves Hamas in power. It'd be kind of like a truce with Al-Qaeda in 2002, in a world where Afghanistan borders New York.

    Inb4 the genocide accusations

  • There are no Israeli settlements in Gaza just FYI, but this was a profoundly stupid thing to do.
