  • Right but you’re missing the whole “you can’t separate sexual abuse from the power imbalance”

It’s like when a female guard has sex with a male inmate.

I believe that most of the time that happens, the inmate went after the guard. I also believe that if you asked the inmate that they consented to it 100%.

But because the power dynamic at play is so severe, you just have to hardline it and say that as the CEO it’s illegal for you to dip in the company ink.

Probably not worth jail time, maybe just lose your job and be forbidden from directorships/ceo for 10 years?

  • Here’s the problem….

Because of the power imbalance you can never divorce the two, even if she chased him.

That’s not a moral judgement, just a reality that “perspective “ matters here and if she chased him and then decides 3 years later that he unduly promoted her to try and convince her to have sex with him, BOOM he’s screwed, because she’s got a valid point.

I don’t know the answer, but he’s definitely doing things he shouldn’t.

And let’s be real, he’s likely a VERY shitty dad.

  • Could be another “ai is just cheap labor from India” scam.

But more importantly, at what cost here? I mean how much processing power and engineering time is required and at what cost….to try and detect bike thefts?

Wouldn’t it be cheaper just to buy them a new bike?

  • Going from “sim “ to “voip” means that your cell phone will only ever work when it’s on wifi. The reliability will drop significantly Your ability to get maps and things while on the road, in fact you won’t be able to receive or make phone calls/texts/anything while travelling at all (by bus, car or bike)

    … just fyi

  • I dunno, I feel like this could have been solved with a pizza party and T-shirts for less money

    /s

  • Fucking eh!

If you spend 10 minutes looking into Dolly Parton, you’ll find a Fucking Angel.

Legitimately. Look into her reading program. Not just the news articles, but the written deals. She makes sure that if her program is a success, that the county is contracted to keep it going FOR-FUCKING-EVER. Her legacy is generations of kids who graduate high school because she sent them books.

And that’s just ONE thing she did, with a legacy that will outlast every one of us.

    We ride at dawn.

  • Yep, it’ll be opt in until they can turn it on without people noticing

  • Sure but you also haven’t lost any of the power that wasn’t generated by them being dead/broken

  • Not really, no.

But this thing could be beat with a raspberry pi.

  • You open the front of your gas boiler?

    Exchanging air with the environment?

  • Where do you think the oven vents its exhaust gases to? The outside? So you have an exhaust vent directly attached to the oven? Which model of stove does this? Most of them vent into the range hood like the stovetop, or just into the room.

Let’s give a better example…. A well vented stovetop…… and you burn something on it really badly….

Does the vent catch ALL the burning smell? Or does the kitchen still smell of burnt food?

Yeah, that smell is the gases and particles that the venting didn’t catch…… there’s still a fair bit, isn’t there….. can you smell the burning?

The amount of gas that’s healthy for you to consume is basically zero, so even if the range hood catches 90% (I think it’s closer to 60, but I don’t have a source on that), there’s still a lot in the air.

K, so put the condescension away when you can do these experiments at home with the help of a responsible adult.

  • While they are less of a problem when they’re better vented, they’re still a really big problem. You can’t possibly vent them well enough.

  • Gas ovens poison your home and make you stupid.

  • Even people sometimes just wake up day and snap for reasons beyond our control.

Now you’re generally right, most of these cases there’s some meaningful details missing and the “no history of attacks” is a lie.

We just can’t broadly apply that because we don’t know which one isn’t a lie.

  • I mean, I really wanna hear musks opinion on this…..

Because trump has promised to kill electric vehicle sales……so like, musk is going to support that?

  • I can agree with “was”

Now they’re looking to maximize monetisation.

    The pattern repeats

  • Reddit, Facebook, YouTube, TikTok, all the major ones. I’d like to think that Reddit is less affected by it than the rest of them, but I’m not certain that is accurate anymore.

….. I call this “exhibit A” for why I’m on lemmy.

  • Agreed, but the allure of fame and Facebook/YouTube made this behaviour worse.

Or at least gave the mom the tools to make it worse.

  • It’s when they tried to monetise it and then figured out that “to make the most money, we need people to stay on our site the longest” that things went to shit.

The algorithms soon learned that echo chambers of outrage worked great to maximize viewership.

And we all suffer more for it.
