Usually a lurker.Maybe I should've just shut up and thought for a bit longer before writing that comment...

If you want to talk to me elsewhere, you know how to reach me.

  • Can't imagine that working in Germany. It feels like public transport strikes every other month meaning that every possible way for me to get around, other than a car, is only possible by bike.No issue with that in the later spring, summer and early fall seasons but that's outright hostile in the winter months.

Yes the workers deserve wages but I don't get why they have the right to strike >2x per year for wage increases by preventing everyone else to reach their workplace.

Not to mention: The public transport are more or less already funded by monthly fare sales. So it doesnt even hurt the company that drives it.It's already infamous for being late world-wide (lol)

  • I like the look.I hate cobblestone alleys :|

  • Thing is, you may have some devices that should be accessible even if the reverse proxy is unreachable. And if you have HSTS and wamt to reach a device under the same local DNS suffix (example: External -> service.example.org, Internal: service.int.examole.org) you can't just bypass the https warning.Same for devices reachable over RDP, SSH, etc. etc.

    1. This comment is 6 months old xD Let it die in peace
    2. Never said it's unwatchable. But you will loose detail.I am usually watching encodes myself as remuxes are way too size-heavy for my liking. Only special movies get the remux quality treatment.Whats more important: Preserving the better part of the bitrate. Crus it too much and you have Netflix at home :p

  • I was also wondering about the order of the alternatives. It feels like the first entry is the "best" to replace tge google service but IMO some are not even close to other lower placed alternatives.

  • I have good experiences with Ionos (with my own domain. But they like to upsell you with stuff you don't need). The Business mail tier also supports Exchange Active sync (flaky on Android. Works well on iOS). The business/basic tier has CalDAV/CardDAV (which I use on Android with Davx5.

Their spam is a bit overzealous. But if something ends up in there, you A: Can whitelist the senderB: Receive an info-mail at the end of the day about new messages in the folder.

The webmailer is neat. But I rather use Thunderbird.

  • Forgetting that immich needs a selfhosted server? Thus it aint really an alternative if you really want it to be applicable to the average user.

  • That's not hating dog owners but pet owners in general and especially just disliking irresponsible humans.

For example (IMO) having a cat only in the flat/house is not a good place as well. Dogs need movement, thus cats need as well. And I don't mean it in a "let the cat outside to wreck the bird population for today" kind of way

  • Never had it break my setup. And I have ACLs running on the filesystem on top of it.

  • I smell Iron Man 2 plot. But why has it become reality?
