  • This used to be true, and there was enormous investment in nuclear power.

    But the truth is that renewables have come a LONG way these past few decades. In many places, renewables is the cheapest energy to invest in, cheaper than even Fossil fuels in many cases. And much much cheaper than nuclear.

    Why build a nuclear plant when you can build diversified renewable energy sources for the same price or less?

    As a very small added bonus, renewables can't be turned into bombs. Yet.

  • My understanding of how this works is that that left one is real accounts making real comments, at least in the majority.

    Then when the link gets reposted, either by a bot or naturally, potentially depending on the title, the bots scrape the old comments and post them.

    It's content farming. And Reddit is probably okay with this.

  • Intercontinental nukes basically can't be shot down. This is because both sides can launch hundreds of rockets, each carrying multiple very small warheads. It's basically impossible to intercept.

  • Ah, I have only used both a relatively small amount, and from my experience I think thunderbird is more functional, flawed though my perspective may be. In what ways has outlook been more functional, from your perspective?

  • There are a lot of reasons to be suspicious about trump when it comes to colluding with foreign powers, and there is even some evidence. I agree that people often take it too far, into the conspiracy theory territory. But I don't think it's quite comparable with QAnon, either in feasibility, or in scope, or in the problematic effects that it may have.

    Also, the American system is, at best, only semi-democratic. The politicians are the ones who determine who is in power, much more than the people who actually vote. Are the citizens really responsible for what politicians we have? Am I responsible, as a man who votes conscientiously, who has campaigned during important elections, and yet does not have any real influence in who gets elected? Is the average person, who is just barely getting by, really expected to change the system by themselves?

    We need systemic change, but we have no class consciousness, and we are not likely to get there. These facts are manipulated by the people in power.

  • There are so many tools to make documentation for your project. LATEX is a great one, and you can use it to easily host your documentation online. And it's really not difficult at all to do by hand. If you can have it on discord you can certainly have it in a repo.

    Maybe it's a cynical ploy to increase community engagement with their project by getting them into the discord. Regardless, it gives me The Ick. Very gross.

  • In the US there is enormous investment in new NAND and other chips manufacturing. The government does not want these products and materials to be expensive or scarce. So the good news is the US gov will likely jump on this immediately.
