The Adventures of an Amazon Delivery Driver! This week's episode: So I guess the economy is officially crashing right now
I just got a text message from work asking me to pick between taking the day off or coming in for 'no more than 4 hours.' So today will be my 3rd shift IN A ROW sitting at home
Or they could hate me and be trying to do active dismissal on me.
anxiety days. My car's wheel almost fell off about a month ago so I missed 3 weeks of work (I used PTO for some of it) plus ~1000 bucks to fix it. My meager 'single adult living with multiple roommates' savings got cut plumb in half.
I wouldn't feel so worried about it if it weren't for
and the fact that it's been dicey getting full hours already.
Anyway fun story: The car got fixed at the beginning of week 2 of me being off. But on friday when they write the schedule for next week
I got a text asking me if I was ready to come back. I noticed and replied a couple hours later only to get back "Oh well you didn't reply back! I wrote the schedule and you're not on it!"
The biggest surprise for me lately has been how little they care about manufacturing consent anymore. They're already moving military equipment into place and I feel like I barely even heard about this drug cartel angle they're taking.
I wish I had a union. I wish I had a shop steward to go to for dumb shit between coworkers. I don't want to be a narc if someone does dumb masculinity shit and tries to pick a fight with me.
I've been handed one of those little evangelical comic books that confidently said God wouldn't let any of his creatures become extinct, and that for example, dinosaurs still existed.
I was so (much more) vapid back then. My biggest credit to Obama when he was running was him saying he did in fact inhale "that's the point."
