  • It’s unfortunate that the eu remains a playground for major powers, so playing both sides against each other may indeed be the only viable strategy.

  • Its ironic that he was there for the opening ceremony, given his past actions trying to divert funds from eu's defence industry into the defence industry of usa. (And no he's not a nato secretary, he's a usa puppet as are most of eu leaders, unfortunately)

  • If Im not mistaken majority of the countries will hit their target by the end of a decade, lets hope its not too late by then.

  • I have no problem with diversifying trade ties, as long as no party has too much control/monopoly over the market.

  • Why is mark rutte there, the same guy who wants eu to spend billions on usa defence industry instead of our own.

  • Eu has to cut it's reliance on usa, but chasing closer ties with china is beyond stupid, has eu learned nothing.

  • I mean if theres a problem why not talk about it, why should we be quiet, just because its "off-topic."

  • This comment thread is about usa and eu

  • Because eu sold its digital identity to usa not china nor russia

  • Got me on a technicality

  • Shame that the eu didn't take the same stance when it came to serbia and their fight for democracy

  • So much for avoiding trade war

  • Money, probably

  • At the moment, things aren’t as bad as in China or Russia, but the EU is heading in that direction as more authoritarian figures are elected—figures who do everything in their power to take our democracy and freedoms away.

  • Because of actions like this, I cannot get behind the idea that eu is somehow better than russia, china...

  • If finland knows whats good for their national security, they will not allow its passage

  • Negotiations here having the meaning of capitulation. Also didn't von der leyen accompany those eu leaders to washington, didn't seem to mind when her colleagues called a convicted felon a president of europe
