  • lol funny how I just noticed that too.

But I do want to say that as with many many radical movements and ideologies, the best solution is usually somewhere between their proposed tenets, and the behaviors of those they oppose. Usually around halfway between, but slightly closer to the protesting ideology.

So while I would not agree that shunning all progress is a good idea just to make sure all the workers continue to have a status quo they’re used to - I think that’s just stunting the betterment of society. But when progress enables the kind of employment elimination like we see in the 21st century, which also contributes to an accelerated imbalance of wealth that very quickly turns into a freakin global oligarchy and serfdom of 99% of the population, you can’t allow progress to run untempered.

The best solution is that any advancement of technology that can replace human employees, must be implemented with an accompanying program that provides laterally equivalent employment roles.

So like, replacing workers with machines - well okay, then do it in a way that the workers can be trained to participate in the maintenance of said machines, to perhaps fill roles in safety and quality assurance, and even some could perhaps become part of the labor force involved in new innovation.

But all this ideology is moot as long as the wealthiest people aren’t satisfied with just being filthy rich and living lavishly. They want to control the fucking world. And ultimately, they are gonna, unless there’s a massive event to take them all down.

Everyone does well when everyone does well. Everyone prospers when everyone is prosperous. But when wealth can get to such levels of imbalance that individuals can literally buy governments, you have a system that is inherently bad for almost everyone.

But I’m not saying anything that anyone doesn’t know. It’s all a matter of making it happen by merely not being apathetic and complacent, not just accepting things. Knowledge and ideas need to be shared and ideologies shared and refined for the better.

So much really good change took place because of the internet and how it facilitated a vast ocean of idea exchange. Why do you think the 1% have been working tirelessly to poison it and encapsulate it for their own use. Good thing it’s nearly impossible. They have had some good success with social media, but more and more people are aware of having been used and abused by it, and they’re growing intolerant of that.

Sorry ranting more. I just really like sharing my thoughts. If you’ve gotten this far, thanks so much for your patience, and I welcome any constructive responses. Bear in mind that I’ve been extremely abbreviated and nutshell-ish. Nuances of course exist in multitudes.

  • OK I'm done. Spend some time rubbing those beads.

  • Hah. Spoken like a true believer with no regard for evidence.

    “Undeniable.” I love it.

  • Wow you so went to far too much effort. I could cite a million references that agree with what I stated as well. I’m not going to because I never intended for this to turn into a kind of debate. You can choose to believe what you want, regardless of reality; I mean, that’s what religious belief is. You seem to seek out whatever agrees with you and don’t bother to learn the contrary. Or maybe you do. Whatever. I really have no intention to continue this. What I wanted to say has been said, so, fini.

  • Everything is a thing eventually somewhere. Heh.

There’s even Jews for Jesus. They believe he maybe was the messiah (“moshiach”) and that our people dropped the ball on that. Weird stuff. Culturally I find it odd yet interesting. Belief-wise I know it’s all mythology from a primitive time. But whatevs.

  • Yes I see your point. And I was raised completely orthodox so I’m familiar with that aspect of it and how much of a part it plays. But yes I consider myself very much to be a Jew in more than just lineage. But I do take your point.

Regarding Jews regard for Jesus in general the attitude is that if he even existed, he was trying to change things in a way that would corrupt the religion. People have many many theories but most scholars don’t even concede he even existed. There are Jesus-like characters with many of the same traits that are part of religions that predate all abrahamic lore.

Stuff is very complex. Weird though how this discussion moved into this. I like it though. I mean, I was only joking around with my comment but I’m happy to have engaged in this convo. Very nice.

  • Well, you clearly don’t have a grasp on what the full meaning of either is. But I am exactly as I stated. You should not presume to know other people especially strangers you’ve never met.

  • Yes. Not including Jesus. Poly just means more than one. They have a very specific set of gods. None are Jesus.

  • Also you’re forgetting Hindu, Jainism, Zoroastrianism and plenty more that I just don’t have patience to list. There are literally hundreds in practice and thousands historically.

  • Being a Jewish atheist myself I guess I qualify for two.

  • It's a joke. Like religion. But even within the confines of religious beliefs, only some religions believe in Jesus, so the hundreds of other religions that are followed would ostensibly not approve of worship of Jesus.

But yeah, any such beliefs are fiction anyway.

  • lol. That’s what got them there haha.

  • Ubuntu Touch is still in the stages of “Wouldn’t this be nice?” Nevertheless, it would be nice to see it get some dedicated work.

  • Even if you don’t want it.

Honestly, I’d prefer to stay away from anything that’s been sullied by the need for Windows compatibility, compliance, Protectsia inclusion, etc. Fuck that. I think it’s a really bad idea and a turn off for more than not.

  • Who goes out of their way to make such a monstrosity. The amount of compatibility efforts must have really distracted from making any one of them exceptional.

Of course, I could be completely wrong.

Also…: Windows??? Give it a dang rest! Windows on a mobile device was last a great idea around 2006.

Linux and Android would be pure chef’s kiss AFAIC.

  • Well I don't think it'd paranoid but I have been meaning to run a scan with some apps I have just to see. But is Xiaomi one of the banned brands?I know Huawei, ZTE, and some others I've heard. Not sure about Xiaomi.

Anyway it's a fairly good quality launcher. And it has one feature I love that Nova never implemented which is icon packs as in multiple. In order of preference.

  • Ahhhh okay. Cool.

Personally, I don’t see the appeal though. I am really happy to have left Windows in the trash.

  • Lawnchair is ok but I’ve been liking Poco. The thing is Nova is amazing at adapting icon packs to at least make stuff follow a motif. Nearly every other launcher just leaves icons looking out of place when there isn’t a themed one. I’m not talking about having an icon for all your apps within all your icon packs, but if the pack follows some shape or design, or maybe color affectation, Nova will generate for all others a complying effect. Hardly any other launchers will do this. I also use a widget called Launchy and the one thing it’s missing is it also won’t do this with some packs. Although some will. It’s weird.

But I’ve rambled. Yeah check out Poco AKA Global Launcher from Xiaomi I think.

  • I miss Win 3.11 using Dashboard. That app was the tits! Goodbye Program Manager always obstructing up the wallpaper.
