  • Being downvoted to oblivion simply for stating what Hamas themselves are bragging about, they're the ones boasting them being able to turn water pipes into rockets and construction materials into bombs. But of course anyone supporting Hamas will never tell you openly that they do so, so those internet warriors express their support for the terrorists instead "anonymously" with downvotes.

  • Yup that's normal because VBA is single-threaded, doesn't take advantage of vector instructions and even its interpreter is slow. So when someone writes numerical code in VBA working in single precision, and assuming they have an 8 core CPU with AVX2, they're using only 1/64-th of their CPU's processing power. On the other hand with Python, while it's still interpreted, the interpreter is much faster on its own, and you have modules like numpy that use precompiled routines that take advantage of vector instructions (and possibly multiple cores).

  • I hope they kill off VBA too. I still see some teams in banks implementing Monte Carlo simulators or PDE solvers in straight VBA 🤢

  • In it, she appears stripped to her underwear, and her legs are bent at unnatural angles, while one soldier grabs her hair. People are also seen spitting on her body.

And some terrorist supporters here on Lemmy were trying to explain to us that they were just casually "transporting" the body of a dead woman and that they weren't doing anything disgusting with her. We all know what islamist terrorists do when they spot a young woman, to pretend that Hamas is any different from ISIS is to be completely delusional.

Palestinians will lose more and more support (mine already) as long as they keep shielding the Islamist animals of Hamas.

EDIT: also thank goodness for !world@lemmy.world, because others like !worldnews@lemmy.ml are run by terrorist supporters (see for yourself in their modlog: https://lemmy.ml/modlog/14788)

  • Windows gamers will never understand the joy that glxgears gave us

  • And to say that there used to be a time when "Linux gaming" was an oxymoron as it at most meant SuperTuxKart or mindlessly watching glxgears.

  • Hofgarten, Munich.

(Pixel 7a, x0.5, used suggested enhancements)

  • For those who have tried Kakoune, once you've included things like Treesitter and the clangd language server, which one feels faster, Kakoune or Neovim?

I'm still a Neovim main but one thing that I find interesting in Kakoune is their "client/server architecture" which apparently allows you to have one master Kakoune instance and multiple slave instances that would be in sync, kind of like how you can have multiple windows in any modern IDE (I'm not sure if Kakoune shares the clipboard with all of those instances?). That thing is still not available in Neovim (or Vim for that matter), which is a pain in multi-screen setups.

  • New Town Hall, Munich

(shot with Pixel 7a, applied Google Camera's suggested enhancements)

  • I dig this one, though it's debatable whether it should be Lemmyest or Lemmiest 🤔

EDIT: ChatGPT's take on the similar merriest (correct form) vs "merryest":

The word "merriest" is the correct form in English because it follows the standard rules for forming the superlative degree of adjectives. When an adjective ends in a consonant + y, like "merry," you change the "y" to "i" and add "-est" to form the superlative. This is a common spelling rule in English to maintain pronunciation and prevent double vowels. Therefore, "merriest" is the proper way to express the highest degree of merriness. "Merryest" would be considered incorrect.

  • 1,305 now

  • Title probably needs to be updated, they're sadly at 820 dead now.

  • Yeah that's the biggest turnoff for me personally, it sucks how we are always expected to pay a fat premium for something more sustainable. There should be some small government subsidies for phones like these, just like there are on e-bikes and EVs in many countries.

  • won't be big and professional like gnu

    that didn't age well

  • A new one, shot using the same Pixel 7a 😁 Used portrait mode and only applied Google Camera's automatic enhancement.

  • yoo I didn't know about used/refurbished Thinkpads being that cheap, I just checked and indeed you can find a T480 with 16GB of RAM for $248 on Amazon!

  • I think that's actually a good idea? Sucks for e-learning as a whole, but I always found online exams (and also online interviews) to be very easy to game.

  • Swiss French is what French should have always been imo

  • tbh both inflation numbers are hot

  • Looks awesome! What's the name of the TUI file manager you're using there?
