  • it would never occur to you that they are anything but “tankies”

Well, I heard them advocate alot for people defending their own communities and didn't hear them advocate at all for invading neighboring communities and forcing them to accept their form of socialism at gun point. Thus they have not met the definition of Tankie

  • but a revolution is doomed to fail without popular support

Which is why almost all of them ultimately collapsed. East Germany famously got to a point where they were spending more money on the Secret Police than on the military.

There were numerous Russians who abandoned their "communists principles" at the first opportunity for wealth and power, most famously Vladimir Putin. Russians mastered the honeypot/Kompromat operation though and you have to assume the Russians in the know would be warily of them.

  • I just did a cursory search online and the only markup I could fine below 30% was cellphones at about 8-10% and groceries at 5-25%. Now, I wouldn't make a wager on the precise accuracy of a cursory glance but it's telling that even in a Capitalist society, no ones denying their huge markups. Most sources list the markup on cloths to be 50-400%

  • It can be challenging for members of the ruling class to set themselves apart from each other socially with wealth alone so they attempt to do so in other ways such a patronage or association with intellectuals. Voltaire is a useful Archetype to understand the concept because so much is known about him.

  • Steam provides more than just a one time exchange of download for money, so I wouldn't exactly compare it to a store where you walk out the door and your exchange is completed. As a leftists, I think Steam makes too much money and should charge less and pay more but in a capitalist nation i don't see Epic having a successful case

  • Free Healthcare and and Higher education are the main reasons enlisted soldiers join the US military; both things that countries that aren't Empires offer to all their citizens.

  • They're only letting congress read unredacted versions of files they've already released to the public in redacted form. So nothing unvetted is being released to congress.

  • My dudes, you have nothing to lose but your chains

  • In fact, Russia’s main ally in the region is Iran which is a mortal enemy of Israel.

Some days Putin and Netanyahu are frenemies, other days Putin and Netanyahu are frenemies. Business is business as they say.

  • "had ties"

The whole fucking Island was a huge Kompromat operation

  • My dudes, we have nothing to lose but our chains
