  • It's VERY TRUE, but no body will take that invitation, job ads in Germany DEMAND that you speak fluent German to work here. I mean you are not even considered if you you tell them you will start learning the language. This happened to 3, highly qualified , experienced colleges of mine plus with me so multiple cases. I know at least 2 cases , where People who are living in Germany are afraid to change jobs within DE because they been rejected due to lack of German language.

    I agree one might need to local languages, but no talent from outside is coming pre learned German in droves. There will be change in this before Germany REALLY NEEDS people. Till then one must talk DE or work with junior/inexperienced person leading to inefficiencies ( see FOR EXAMPLE: DB and multiple of your companies)

  • At that level of money and wealth and living, you dont feel bad at all, cause everything is okay. He felt great just saying it and 1000 of people read it . Anybody who does no agreww with him is just small fraction of people who did not say anything, so its a win for him. You see this in most of the rich people, if there is strike going outside and of one of the operation manager just close the door of factory and contains it outside , its a win for them , unless something is not touching their money directly and helping them blind side problem its a SOLID win in their books .its like they can't/don't think that far. It's side effect of ingot mine , so you can go away mentality, they become highly myopic

  • Hell forget about AutoCAD, what about word and EXCEL. now you and Linux dudebros will tell me there are alternatives on Linux like libre office and what not. To them I say this

    1. Make a document in libreoffice , try to save it as docx and see what says libreoffice, or make a doc in word and adjust formatting, try to open same doc in libre office and see what shit show it becomes
    2. Hand down no body can beat ms excel, on multiple platforms, the versality is not just complex formulas but functions like xlookup, index match , combined with VBA scripting with formulas that can low-key fight python , power tables are unparalleled, if you can replicate these without A SINGLE COMMAND line input for dumb users like us That would the win.

    1. You can't easily define what apps start with startup
    2. Even when wine is installed , lot of programs won't run in wine
    3. You cannot easily find where the program is installed like you can in windows
    4. You attach a external disk but some apps won't see it mounted making it Impossible to explore in their file picker , not all but some
    5. There is almost huge lack of programs , for which there is huge possibility that a windows program exists.
    6. There is constant need to use terminal for lot of things for which you can't a program see point 4.

    I keep telling Linux is still not for common home use for users who are in between power users and people only using it for browsing. This will get me downvotes here on Lemmy all the time . Linux edge lords are their own bubble.

  • It's still techy, here two recent problems I faced with still no solution'( specially with only Gui)

    1. Try to put Programs such as Firefox , emby in startup of linux
    2. Find a folder comparison software, let it feels nd external drive ATTACHED TO LAPTOP and compare two folders on it.

    and every time I say Linux is not usefull for simple use i get downvotes all the time . Cause Linux bro dudes can do it with terminal so easy... Well guess what linux dudes , its hard for performing many tasks which are simple enough on windows/Mac heck even on Android ( which is Linux also I know) , but desktop Linux has looooooooooooooong way to be normal os in households

  • The Lemmy Linux Community is elitist about Linux, I mean I told them I can't find a file comparators on Linux I got downvotes , out of 4 , 1 solutions is use of Terminal(not a basic user would want to do) , 1 is claiming windows is bad and 1 might be a solutions.

    But yah I got the downvotes from LINUX Bros. Dudes needs to just admit linux läcka programs and simplicity of use for general use.

  • No i can't. There is no powerful processor for word and spreadsheet on Linux libre office is just a shadow of what MS office native software can do..

    No I can't finding an executable and adding it to startup is HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY easy than to use which , where , locate , find commands

    No I can't cause ripping entire dvd with one go is easy as click and done . I don't have to "remux" or encode or whatever I just want a dvd to be copied in folder and that's it.

    No I can't cause Linux is HARD for simpleton like me . It's not useful for simple tasks listed above without touching command line

  • Hi thanks for your reply. I have laptop with external drive that i use as server at home. Ideally as easy part1 i would only upload pictures home, and would access them home only. This is not a public intelltual property, it's our photos so no public IP needed.

    What i am looking is

    My and familys phones are getting full of pics and videos, so instead of using Google Photos can we upload it our own server at home easily and wirelessly. If need be we can watch them on tv . That's it.

  • Hi is there a guide for Complete Newbie like me , right from how to download this software(I could not find link or anything resembling.exe for installation,) upptill how doninput it on my zorin os laptop and setup my and my familys phone to upload photos to our own laptops via immich. Like a a book idiots guide to xyz... Kind of thing

  • My advice is get zorin or popos and see if there is installer in their software store. I am a new user like you are well and this sense to be common, i resroted to keep it on old laptop ,as server so in install and thin necessary things and then dinner user it at all. Linux Community on Lemmy is humbug, they will downvote as soon as you say Linux is not for regular person
