  • I don't find it surprising at all.

The whole idea of breaks during the work day came from early-day capitalists (check out Factory Act and how it came to be. And for those who don't want to/can't - it wasn't from the goodness of their hearts, they noticed that their workers were making too many costly mistakes, like getting themselves rolled into heavy machinery and dying, so they asked doctors to "figure this shit out". The Factory Act is the earliest iteration of what eventually became OSHA), some of whom showed at least a semblance of honour, and following the actual tenets of capitalism (giving back to the community).

It became the "everybody knows this" kind of thing.

Then times have changed. Today's capitalists are a bunch of babies with way too much power, who don't know how they came to be, or why the "gentleman rules" that were in place happened. All they see is that if someone takes a 30 minute break, they're not working for 30 minuts (making shareholders cry! :( ).

The federal government didn't need to mandate this, because "everybody did this anyway", and if one state was having issues, it mandated that on their own.

  • Well, clearly not, because you're still missing the point. Or not understanding it.

  • You're a proponent of genocide. How is that not being an extremist?

  • Damn, I can really feel how tempted you were to use the r-slur there. Not surprising that a zionist and a colonialist would also be an ableist.

You do that a lot, don't you? Imagine things about people you disagree with and then assume they're true.

My examples are advocating for decolonization done by the people there (Palestinians). You’re the one imagining “third parties”.

I'm imagining third parties? You just stated that Palestinians are Israelis, mate. To the Israelis (and their nation), Palestinians are the third party (and the other way around).

You really are having trouble grasping simple concepts.

Hamas' stated eradication of Israel = genocide.

The removal of Israel's government, reform, security guarantees towards Palestine = not genocide.

I thought this was relatively simple to get.

  • Well, in that case, all I can recommend is re-reading what I wrote, because you either didn't get it, missed it, or misunderstood it.

  • Again: WTF are you talking about?

I'm literally suggesting that Israel should be dealt with exactly like the 3rd Reich - get rid of the fascist government, restore law and order in the region, protect Palestine. But not by eradicating Israel. One genocide does not justify another!

And for that, the extremist fundamentalists around here are calling me a "genocide advocate".

  • Weird. I use it on my Linux PC and my Android phone. It had a period of problems some weeks ago, but the creator of the YouTube plugin fixed it and it works perfectly fine again.

  • Are you... suggesting that the existence of Germany on our current maps is a hoax and in reality it doesn't exist...?

WTF are you trying to show here?

Facts are this: 3rd Reich got spanked, its government eliminated, its people remained where they were, and after a short while, governance over the territory was restored to the German people (with the exception of East Germany, but that had nothing to do with 3rd Reich being removed, that was just russia's attempt at colonialism).

Now, in terms of Israel, people here seem to be suggesting that we should let Hamas "do its thing", which is: the complete eradication of Israel as a state, a nation, and a culture. Which, by all definitions, is a genocide.

I'm saying: let's spank them, eliminate their government, let their people remain where they are, and after a short while, restore the governance of its territory to the Israeli people (with the caveat that West Bank and Gaza return to Palestine).

Which is what we did with the 3rd Reich. And for which you people are calling me a proponent of colonialism and genocide.

  • I'm sorry, are you a disabled person? Or did you forget the point you guys were trying to make?

Rhodesia changed its government and name.

    South Africa changed its government.

No third parties partitioned the lands of either.

Your examples are advocating for my approach of punishing the leadership and giving the people a fresh start.

  • WTF even is this comment? I said what I said.

  • It's a kind of "yes, but actually no" situation.

Way back when, smartphones were a relatively new thing. Nobody gave a crap, so building a new OS that had similar capabilities to the competition was easy. We had a bunch of those over the years.

However, every new OS means new architecture, every architecture means developers having to take it into account when building apps.

Eventually, the smartphone market essentially defaulted to Android and iOS - long gone are Windows Phone, Blackberry OS, and a dozen others.

They didn't die off because they somehow had to - they died off because they couldn't keep up with feature parity with Android and iOS.

Nowadays, everything is being made for these two OSes. And by "everything" I mean things that are actually crucial to people - banking apps, ID apps, train ticket apps, parking lot apps - things that they either cannot replace with "not in a smartphone" solution, or can, but it would force them to juggle cards and papers.

Any new OS coming in must take that into account. If Linux comes to mobile phones but can't run national ID apps or banking apps, it will have a market share of maybe 1% - the hardcore fans, and the "technological preppers" who are always anonymous, always off-grid - and that's that. No users further users will switch, and because no users switch, no developers will take it seriously enough to make their apps work on it.

Windows Phone is a great example of this. At its height it had around 20% of the European market share. And what happened? Snapchat (massive at the time) and Google actively worked to undermine and destroy it, because they knew that - in the long run - it'll be cheaper than having to hire a third group of developers. With 3rd party alternative apps being constantly blocked, the OS eventually went down to sub 5% in its biggest market, and sub 1% in the US, and Microsoft finally pulled the plug.

An OS coming in without critical app support won't ever get to even 1% of market share in any region larger than "local Linux fanclub".
