  • The risk with this approach is that tax breaks go to projects like Chris Roberts' Star Citizen.

    UK public is in a sense subsidizing Star Citizen.

    And the formal justification for their current tax breaks (not related to the announced initiative in the article) is that SQ42 and Star Citizen somehow represent (promote?) British culture. I am not even joking.

  • I would be fine without a full-on open world, maybe a bit more content and larger maps than in VTMB (I always thought the Santa Monica map could have been larger and more expansive).

    The writing, world-building and ambience must be top notch in a sequel to VTMB.

  • It's no open world. But there are hubs, often there are multiple ways to finish a quest and there are quest lines that are limited by your skill and clans selection.

    But the main story quest is rather linear.

    This does not sound good. VTMB is not supposed to be linear, you want to explore a living world.

    I haven't been following the release trailers or previous, just saw some concept art from both the first studio that failed and The Chinese Room.

    At least now I can manage my expectations.

  • When I first saw the thumbnail, I thought this was some DOS racing game.

    I don't remember the N64 version having a semi-realistic looking map. But it's been over 20 years since I played it at my friend's place.

  • Supposedly the first studio failed to make a fun game and they had to restart with The Chinese Room (Dear Esther, Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs, Still Wakes the Deep).

    I think they are on track with it, but we got to wait longer.

    IANAL, but IMO there is no confusion between an MMO guild management game and a marvel comic book concept. But then again, I would never trust an American court in such situations.

    Don't get me wrong, I recognize that using Lemmy is not the same thing as supporting tankie roaches, but my point stands.

  • I am biased, but an Underground 3 (with no MTX) with a well written storyline but with lots additional open world gameplay would be a return to form for NFS.
