  • There are also contractual issue to consider. Their investors have a "one-sided" put option in 2028 that might force them to "release" SC even if 80% of the marketed gameplay doesn't exist and large number of cash items are de facto non-functional.

  • Sure, but if SC is actually released, it is only fair to provide a no questions asked refund policy for JPEGs and non-functional cash shop items. Is it not?

At any rate, this discussion is moot, because SC is not released as BlameTheAntifa claims. The overwhelming majority of marketed gameplay, content simply doesn't exist and a large part of the cash items are either broken or borderline non-functional.

  • Yes, the release date is N + 2 years. With N being the current year.

  • Good stuff!

  • Launch of !strategy_games@piefed.world went pretty well. Getting some engagement and there is a solid initial group of subscribers.

Like with the relatively specialized gaming communities that I moderate/curate, I suspect the biggest issue will be that I will the main person posting.

  • So if it is released, would it be fair to allow "no question asked" refunds on all cash shop items that are in still in JPEG form or de facto don't work?

  • Not really sure, I would argue it may make sense to re-direct them to !strategy_games@piefed.world, it was mostly me posting or Elevator crossposting my posts.

I would rather contribute to a piefed community unless a Lemmy community is already established (moves are annoying). For example, some members of !crpg@lemmy.world preferred to stay on LW, so I am not going to rock the boat since it's relatively active.

  • "It allows us to do things without imposing the framework of a typical video game studio," Chris Roberts said in an interview with La Presse from his home in Los Angeles. "The players who fund us expect the best game, period. We don't have to streamline, cut jobs, or change our business model."

This is false. I am honestly surprised about the cavalier attitude with the truth.

  • Not the dev, just a tycoon/management games fan. An MMORPG management game sounds like a lot of fun.

There is also MMORPG Tycoon 2 (that's in 3D), but development has a strange cadence.

  • I am not a bot. 😀

Just sharing, I saw a let's play of the game and it looked cool. The concept of an MMORPG management also sounds fun (there is MMORPG Tycoon 2, but development is going at a glacial pace).

  • I find the badges on reddit (I still use it for some niche gaming communities and r/tycoon) very annoying. We want organic engagement, not a skinner box.

  • From my perspective, Digg and Reddit are the same thing. Anti-user platforms run by pro-corruption, pro-crime oligarchs (and wannabes).

I will note that Kevin Rose's previous project was an out and out scam; an NFT pump and dump.

  • Underground 2 was the best.

  • Why do you think the scores are useless? They are good starting point and/or a way to evaluate smaller indie titles that often don't get professional reviews.

  • Almost feels like an elaborate (and nerdy) satirical skit of some sort.

  • Ha! Seems like development on the TTRPG side is just as much of a mess as with VTMB.

  • The was the last console game that I've played (a few party games notwithstanding)

  • Nah, the maps were all linear and there were no multiple solutions.

It's pretty clear they made a random action RPG.
