  • You absolutely can. Currently running mine off of my desktop, but it's overkill and have a few coworkers that used nucs/cheap mini PCs to setup jellyfin. Biggest thing is to make sure you have enough storage to hold all of your media, then you're fine.

  • Thank Mr skeltal

  • Not even joking, only used it the other day cause I didn't know what it was and was reading a couple of forum posts on how to change the atf in my car, and after accidently clicking it, I noted how it listed removing 12 quarts of fluid and re-adding 8 on the summarized steps (for reference the transmission only holds 8 quarts, and you can't get them all, just kinda cycle through with more new than old).

Not very impressed with it to say the least.

  • Thank you!

  • Anyone got the link to the paper?

  • I mean, you could set your phone outside the shower and record your shower, just speak out your idea and transcribe it after the shower.

  • My father got and installed two of the newer nest thermostats, and they are bar none two of the most annoying tech devices I've ever had the misfortune of having to fix. Have literally spent hours debugging them when changing the wifi password, they don't support wpa3, and the setup app feels like a half assed student project. I know this audience probably isn't interested in getting one, but if one of your family members gets some for free, do NOT let them install them.

  • Why is the nervous backwards on the cap after the first one?

  • For extra points, read this in a GlaDoSS voice.

  • Usually it's more a give away after installing mint on them, but it's better than genuinely just tossing them for stuff newer than 7-8th gen intel.

  • Make friends with your local IT guys. Thinkpads are less common these days, because they're "Chinese", so it is more common to find dells (which usually are worse in my experience).

  • "What do you mean, 'Why do I need that stack of old ThinkPads?'. They were free!"

  • Oh wow, hadn't even noticed that autocorrect messed that up.

  • I see myself here a bit too much, but even i would have digital backups.

  • "Here we have the common Tankie, one of Lemmy's more interesting denizens. Watch as they futility claim the superiority of communist China and rage at any mention that their utopian ideal has even a pastina of tarnish..."

  • The theory I've heard is that is exactly why they are doing it now, as apple has set the "side loading" precedent in the EU.

  • Think maga, but somehow "socialist" and really, really likes China (and usually Russia) and will wave away any negative points about them. Overall, pretty annoying.

Edit: For more examples, just read the OP's comments. Not even joking, they're pretty decent examples of how tankies talk, if you see them outside of their native habitat (ie .ml).
