I tried something like this months ago with deepseek but it was a cross country road trip and a list of possible stops. It performed really well on that large scale version but yeah It's not surprising to me that a language model is poorly equipped to handle that kind of task at a walking scale.
I agree it's a better time but it requires more trust in the moment, and you gotta be eating out frequently so it evens out, and have a good enough memory that you actually get paid back.
