  • It really doesn't. I'm sure that satisfaction exists, but when your pay doesn't always let you eat, it's hard to stay put for the satisfaction.

  • I've always loved the gadgeteer/super-genius trope. Iron Man, the Tinker types from Worm, Girl Genius's Sparks, etc. I always found something appealing to the idea that they can do anything eventually, but they have to work their way to it - they have to think, put in effort, adapt to pitfalls, then get an awesome payoff.

    They all seem to have something they specialize in too; so for a specialty, I'll go for movement enhancements. Flight packs, powered exoskeletons, custom vehicles, etc.

  • It sounds like this might be similar to delisting - MinecraftOnline won't be allowed to authenticate users against the server, and presumably won't be discoverable through whatever server discovery Minecraft uses. I assume Microsoft controls those. They don't have server searches, it sounds like it's all about authentication - without this, they need to set up their own whitelists, and custom skins won't transfer.

    I'm a little shocked "Thank you for your attention to this matter" is used seriously...

  • I don't think the same mechanism would work these days, but we have seen people standing up to authorities on their neighbors' behalf already; often people they don't even know. Look at all the videos of people driving ICE away.

    It doesn't happen every time of course, but neither did the penny auction solidarity.
