  • I think a IRC server/channel full of lemmings would be cool. I wish my friends used IRC.

  • Except the school prepares the children with none of that in its current state. Those chromebooks are incredibly locked to the point of being practically useless beyond searching stuff on google. We have still have textbooks at my school but most people prefer the pdf version. Most of the kids at my school are incredibly tech illiterate to the point of not knowing how the filesystem works. Most of them have used mobile devices as their primary computers and use laptops just as a glorified browser.

  • Congratulations!

  • I don't think you understand leftism. Economic leftism (Socialism, Marxism, Communism) is inherently anti capitalist. The social spectrum of left and right is pointless. I am not necessarily a Liberal but I would define myself as a leftist. I do not consider liberals to be inherently leftists.

  • I am Gen Z and I don't really know what you are talking about but generally most parents are pretty strict and most kids have helicopter parents. I wasn't allowed to play outside as a kid beyond the porch until I inevitably started sneaking out on my bike. Parents generally try to monitor everything and are scared of anything mildly independent. Walk to the store? Get yelled at. Get to school by yourself by walking or cycling? Get yelled at. Take the city bus home? Get yelled at. I generally just ignore them but its tiring when I am just trying to live a normal life. Granted I don't have it as bad as some. I know kids whose entire internet usage is heavily monitored and restricted as well as the usual physical restrictions.

  • yeah I didn't mean that in an accusatory way.

  • No I don't think you understand. He isn't corrupt. The military basically controls the government in Pakistan and they didn't like him and tried to remove him from power. They even shot him in the leg. Imran Khan was democratically elected and is very popular. The government has had to make huge efforts to censor the media to keep the uproar at bay. Its banned on the news to mention Imran Khan.

  • They haven't gone away. Plenty of Quake 3 Arena servers still up and running. If not Quake 3 Arena, then Xonotic is still pretty active with more modern visuals and pretty good graphics.

  • That small niche of people can simply pay the toll to drive into NYC

  • I do that currently do that but I doubt most kids would. Its pretty dangerous because of the bad infastructure.

  • The main problem is its different from the main POSIX style shells. Just makes it very confusing to use with its own proprietary functions and commands.

  • That is a dangerous opinion. In my mind, Microsoft has made zero good products.

  • Actually its zsh but yeah nothing special.

  • Damn now I want pedal powered train

  • Even in bike racing the optimal form ends being to become a train. A peloton is just a train made up of bikes.

  • My mom has done the sit in car while waiting for the bus to come thing before and its super annoying. Mind you the bus stop was like 60m away from the house. It actually took longer to drive because of the time it took to take the car out of the garage and get in but my mother insisted. For the past three years I have just stopped listening to my parents and just leave the house without saying anything. Its to ask for forgiveness than permission. I have been biking to neigboring cities and they don't even realize I left. I have also been able to force them to let me bike to school because I have work right after my morning classes and biking is the fastest way to get to work.

  • I use audacious. It's perfect.

  • I wish I could by train to work. I honestly wouldn't even mind the noise if I had the option to take a train. I bring my noise cancelling headphones everywhere so I doubt I would even hear it.
