  • TFW someone makes a desktop app but it’s literally just a bundled chrome browser page

  • The real problem is that AI is ill defined and the goal posts move to “wherever we are now plus a little more” and is always not quite there yet. Writing a simple script to take input of user on cli and performing some action on behalf of them is arguably “AI” in that it automates a task that a human would otherwise have to do themselves.

I think it’s probably a lot more useful to talk about a systems capabilities rather than its labels. Can this _ actually drive a car without human intervention? Can this _ actually write software without a coder looking over it and modifying the mistakes? For most domains, we aren’t there yet, where the thing is a human level (or better) autonomous agent.

But i guess it’s no surprise that an industry that exists primarily on hype clings to its stockholder-edging labels and marketing terms.

  • It’s literally as literal as literally

  • Seriously what’s with the spelling of the nicknames lol that seems new for him but now he does it all the time

  • Good meme but also I’m guessing they don’t really mind lol

  • Honestly this is pretty much it. Sometimes you have to be pretty aggressive to get companies to do the thing you need; they will take advantage of the social friction required to keep you in predatory arrangements. They literally design it to be frustrating so you’ll give up. Like you, I try to make it clear to the person I’m speaking with I have no problem with them just the business. But if the corporations require me to get mad to do the right thing I will get mad.

  • Why not password protect the keys (ala Linux ssh / gpg symmetric encryption for local storage of PPK)

  • Then the problem is with privacy laws that allow abuse and poor regulation, not with more capable cars.

  • It’s more a question of money than feasibility. I’m pretty sure a couple manufacturers already have basic capabilities similar to this

  • We created laws to require seat belts, maybe it’s time we create laws that require the manufacturers to install tech to detect kids and pets left in hot vehicles and alert the authorities or at the very least sound an alarm.

  • S tier…? This place?

S tier for environs but C for inhabitants. A or B tier at best

  • You are interpreting that backwards. I wouldnt say it’s a vegan talking point so much as a non vegan talking point in reverse. It’s commonly argued that because humans have canines were meant to eat meat. Whereas vegans fully acknowledge the capacity to digest meat and evolutionary history that evolved omnivorous diets (but argue the majority of (not all) people have a want rather than a need) . The vegans are just memeing back.

  • I can’t help but think that part of many Americans indifference to this is their feeling that Indian Americans and residents don’t really count and they’re still more Indian than they are American, so it’s not great but isn’t the same as meddling with a “real” American. I feel like we saw something similar with Khashoggi’s execution. “Of course modi can interfere in their lives, they’re of Indian heritage…” as if they’d tolerate a European premier telling white Americans what to do or else

  • Turbine should connect to loudspeaker to make this a closer system lol
