Bx, Belgium. Today the cheminots (trainworkers) were on strike, to mark the start of 3 days of social outrage as the government is pushing once again for more austerity. The federal government reached a agreement regarding the budget, that includes VAT increases.
The midwives at my local hospitals are gonna hold a 36 hours picketing starting tomorrow 7am. The whole public sector will stop, with the academies on the forefront. The day after will be general strike.
*The court in Béziers has fined Dominique Valdès, a resident of Agde in the Hérault department, €1,250 following a complaint from one of her neighbors. The neighbor accuses the woman's cat of causing damage in his garden. However, the owner denies the allegations.
Is the freedom of cats being called into question? In the town of Agde, located in the southern part of the Hérault department, an unusual legal case is causing controversy among residents of a neighborhood. On January 17, Dominique Valdès, owner of a ginger cat named Rémi, was fined €1,250 by the Béziers court, reports Le Parisien.
The reason? Her pet is accused by one of her neighbors of causing damage: paw prints on stucco, urine on a duvet, and defecation in the garden.
"There's no real proof"
Even worse for Dominique Valdès, a €30 penalty has been added to the sentence each time the cat crosses the fence again. A devastating blow for this woman in her sixties, who had been able to review the 90-page court file. This file, composed of photos taken by the neighbor, is being contested by Rémi's owner.

"There's no real proof that Rémi caused this damage. There's another ginger cat in the neighborhood, and the numerous photos the neighbor himself provided show that many other cats have been through his garden," Dominique Valdès told Le Parisien.
Another court summons
But the situation isn't improving for the cat's owner. Her neighbor, the source of her distress, accuses Rémi of having done it again. This accusation has serious consequences for the teacher, as she is summoned to court again next December. And the bill could be even higher. The compensation could reach €2,000. The penalty payment would also be increased and could rise to €150 for each intrusion.*
Agde is a weird place apparently, I heard the naturists and swingers have territory fights. High density of karens and lifting.
