Off to a non-US instance. Goodbye, and thanks for all the fish.

  • For a moment i was confused about the Wolf Enstein typo... now i feel old.

  • Give Tuta a look while you're at it, it's been serving me well.Too bad they don't have an .onion site like proton does.

  • No mention of a few corpos going for nuclear as a power source for said datacenters?

  • I have no access and, it seems, neither does local IT. Yay.

  • At the moment i'm getting mount error(13): Permission denied at the new vm (where i was attempting to mount).dmesg has

    [ 9254.003440] CIFS: Attempting to mount \\10.10.10.10\dir\\dir2
    [ 9254.181314] CIFS: Status code returned 0xc000006d STATUS_LOGON_FAILURE
    [ 9254.181333] CIFS: VFS: \\10.10.10.10 Send error in SessSetup = -13
    [ 9254.181367] CIFS: VFS: cifs_mount failed w/return code = -13

Attempting to ls the share in the other vm where it was previously working yields Host is down.(Everyone else can access the share just fine.)

  • instead of taking responsibility

This is why, they prefer to shift the blame in case it hits the fan. That's all, that's it.They don't care about code quality, maintainability or whatever.

  • As it's usually the case.

  • Swiss-based Proton? Wtf? One less reason to switch from Tuta.

  • that it knows about.

    TIL

  • Somehow i doubt this'll affect anyone with "manager", "head", "chief" or "officer" in the name...

  • Could you link or explain where you got this information?

Common sense. The instance admin deletes the instance (or your posts) 'cos the coffee was bad this morning... there goes "your property".Obviously orders of magnitude better than commercial social media but it's no silver bullet either. There, 3 lines.

  • SP3

  • Too lazy to bother with proper research, but considering how big these companies are, asking your favorite LLM How many people work at Meta and Amazon combined? will yield about 1.5M people (+/- the usual yearly thousands of layofss/new hires).

  • Lack of search is my biggest gripe with Mastodon.

I follow hashtags, it's how i discover interesting content for me. I only use the search function to follow specific accounts.

  • we are all owners of it ourselves.

Not unless you run your own instance you aren't.

  • As long as mutable distros remain an option

Precisely this, linux is about choice. It's not like suddenly most distros would change init systems and make it near impossible to choose... oh, wait...I prefer mutable and see immutable mostly as lazyness but if people wanna use'em go for it, i'm not pushing mutable down their throats.

  • Surprised pikachu face.
