Documenting a weird reddit account experience
Looking at this thread: https://old.reddit.com/r/pics/comments/1q3m1rn/demonstrators_set_fire_to_united_states_flag_in/
I came across this comment:
"Ok it's just a shitlib what's weird about that?" you say
I've not been on reddit for like a week so thought I'd peek because people say weird shit is happening over there. I've moderated enough spaces to have a sort of sixth sense for sus shit on reddit. This comment stood out to me immediately. It just sets off all sorts of "this is not a natural comment and is being specifically written in a very specific way that tends to manipulate reddit users the most". It is difficult for me to describe why it sets off those red flags but I've been on the site 15 god damn years and have a sense for it.
So I visit the profile page of the account to do some sleuthing. No fucking user history shows whatsoever.

Some weird fucking shit is happening and with my tinfoil hat on I think reddit is officially in on it and hiding the userpages of sus accounts so you can not look at the userhistory of these sus users.
Hiding all content on your userpage is not a feature of reddit. This occurs logged in and logged out, on both old and new reddit.
