'Rare' tropical cyclone thrashes South-East Asia killing hundreds

At least 174 people have died in Indonesia and a further 55 people in Thailand after a week of record-breaking rain, flash flooding and landslides.

Meteorologists say the current extreme weather in South-East Asia could stem from the interaction of two active systems, Typhoon Koto in the Philippines and the "rare" Cyclone Senyar in the Malacca Strait.
