He puts her on blast in the public eye and either: gets her to do it by public pressure, or gets to claim he’s been trying but the DOJ just won’t do it and it’s not his fault. This was not a mistake.

Why jump to that conclusion? Everything about Trump suggests he has no idea what he’s doing. There are some evil and smart people in the Admin–mostly Project 2025 planners behind the scenes–but they have their stuff derailed by the idiot in chief all the time.
None of them wanted heavy tariffs, for example. We know this because Project 2025 has people with two positions on the matter; one is a libertarian who is entirely against them, and the other is a protectionist who advocates for a bump in tariffs. Heavy, across the board tariffs was argued by literally nobody except Trump.
He doesn’t know how to govern, but he knows what he’s doing when he’s trying to manipulate.
