i work [-----] that has a branch in israel. small part of my responsibilities include [-----]. also dealing with [-----]. for a year+, ive [-----]. i just [-----]. so far that’s kept anyone from buggin me about them.
recently they’ve been more persistent, and [-----]. i [-----]. im worried things will come to a head and they’ll try to force my hand to help them. there’s no one else i can pawn the work off to. i dont know if my boss would have my back, prob not
am i being silly? does refusing to help them do anything? i wont be homeless if i lose my job, but i really dont want to. its impossible to find a job in my field these days, and especially finding a job that isnt also supporting something just as awful. just by working here i guess im supprting the overall [-----] and by extension instreal, so does it make a difference or am i just doing this to lie to myself

Look up the CIA Simple Sabotage Manual.
Be as friendly and helpful seeming as possible, while also being as plausibly deniably incompetent, slow, and bureaucratic as possible. Make everything require a bazillion meetings. Form unnecessary committees. Lose some records and duplicate others. Make typos. Do things By The Book when that takes longer.
Someone is going to do this job. You can let someone else end up doing it efficiently, or you can do it slowly and less than well.
add random arbitrarily long sleep commands to anything you can for them.
send lots of phishing test emails to them if that’s your purview.
I do think you’ve got the right idea so far. Just be as incompetent and coincidentally unhelpful to them as possible. Never let on that you’re doing it on purpose. If you get cornered just do the bare minimum and, if you can do it badly, do it badly.
The whole thing falls apart if anyone gets any suspicion that you’re doing it on purpose, so don’t say anything that would lead someone to believe that.
And if you do have to fix some IT problem for them don’t worry about it. It makes very little difference.
the thing is, in order to take a hard stance and risk our jobs, we kinda have to have community survival networks in place otherwise we - each as individuals will be screwed, and nobody is gonna give us credit for that when worst comes to worst (idk if i used that phrase properly lol)

i feel you… an israeli intelligence operative just took over as CEO at the company i work at… i’ve been trying so hard to find another job but the job market is non-existent right now. Best I got right now is to just avoid all contact with her and try my best not to wear my free palestine shirts on camera or in person, or accidentally say those words out loud in her presence no matter how badly I want to.

Always project that you are helpful and competent. Even while sabotaging.
Offer to have meetings. Use them to gather information and generate technical documents. Have waaaay too many meetings and make them challenging to schedule. They’re in Israel? Schedule them for a Friday evening their time (Friday morning for you). You need interviews with several people to figure out what’s wrong.
Create a plan to address their issues. Find ways to make them slow or eventually break. Include unnecessary elements that depend on them going to more meetings. Put these into your plan so that it looks like you are trying hard. Demonstrate progress on this monumentous task and make sure they provide official appreciation of your efforts. Move it along just fast enough that they don’t try to get anyone else to help.
You will likely have to complete the task or get another job eventually. If you can find a way to make the system break without pointing fingers at you, then you can redo this whole process after just a few weeks or months. It’s not realistic for this job to never get done, they will eventually have someone else do it, possibly taking your job. So just make it slow, sabotage them if possible, and start looking for another job.
Do that CIA manual thing where you just sabotage everything you do, but in ways that are deniable. Honestly, you’re already doing it but you’ll have to expand your tactics beyond simply ignoring them. If you lose your job, they’ll end up with someone that probably helps them much more effectively. Misunderstand things on purpose. Send critical info late. Ask a lot of questions. Give meandering answers. Find things to complain about.
