I agree that the conservatives will prevail in that arena (the ruling ideas are the ideas of the ruling class) but progressives didn’t start the cancel contest, and I disagree with the second half, that it’s not worth entering at all.
Employment is always going to trend towards being precarious, and at the whim of the employer. This can be solved by having our own economic structures, as a dual power. Can’t get fired for your opinions if your company supports your opinions.
