I’d like to make a material difference by potentially sponsoring some families in Gaza. I know I can’t change the whole situation personally, but maybe I can make a difference to a few families. What is the smartest way to go about this, to ensure I’m actually getting funding to those who need it and not just some dude who is putting up pictures of struggling families and profiting off the genocide?

    As for vetting, I think those sites do some at least. It’s usually suggested to donate to the spotlight campaign or adopting a campaign that you focus on supporting and sharing.
    If you’re very worried about the money going to scammers, I’d suggest spreading your donation to multiple fundraisers or donate to one of the several on-the-ground initiatives that pool their efforts to help multiple families.
    There are also a couple of fundraisers for eSims that are critical for Palestinians to even be able to ask for help and manage their fundraisers. I’ve seen many reports of people getting harassed with demands of proof of their authenticity or claims of scams for “recycling” messages when they may have gotten help to write a single message in English that is all they’re able to do when they’re lucky enough to have internet access.
