I thought this was a seal (or sea lion? I’m not a biologist, I dunno which is which).

It seems like with every week that goes by, Frank the Tank is becoming less and less of a seal and more and more a healthy dachshund. =)

Please don’t overfeed your pets - pet obesity is animal abuse. Frank’s new owners are doing a hell of a job helping him return to a reasonable weight!

Some dogs are just like that. My last dog was a lab who would eat himself to the point of exploding if he could, and I had to very carefully monitor his food intake. My current dog is a supermutt who looks kinda like a blackmouth cur, and she also perfectly regulates her own weight. She even leaves her meals alone if she feels like I’ve been too generous with treats/she’s been too successful in begging for my food that day

Yes, believe it or not. He used to weight 37 lbs (almost 17 kilos) when his current owners adopted him from the shelter and started to help him lose weight.

Poor guy, the previous owners probably just kept food in his bowl at all times. Hopyfully his kidneys are in good shape, otherwise he might have swelling around the intestines even after the fat is lost, then they’d have to start feeding him chicken breast to lower his salt intake.

Firstly, keep up the good work Frank!

Secondly… is Frank… blind or nearly blind?

    Those eyes look pretty glassy.

My elderly dog has the same cloudy eyes, but the vet says they’re not cataracts (can’t remember what he said it is), and as far as we can tell, he can see fine.

They never mention him being blind in their posts, so I am not sure but don’t think he is. He is 10 years old, so I am sure his vision is not what it used to be.
