In yesterday’s video from the GUR, our attention was drawn to the destruction of the “96L6 S-400 radar”, specifically the fact that it is not 96L6.

We analyzed the visual features of the object and can say that this is the new 98L6 “Yenisei” radar, which is the standard radar for the S-500 “Prometey” SAM system.

This station underwent state testing in 2020-2021 and, according to open sources, was commissioned in 2021-2022.

Here is what the Russians themselves write about it:

At the core of the “Yenisei” radar is a multi-element, jamming-resistant active phased array antenna (AESA), allowing it to track hypersonic targets moving at altitudes up to 120 kilometers at speeds up to 4800 m/s (17,280 km/h) with prospects of increasing to 7000 m/s (25,200 km/h). That is, the system effectively enables interception of low-orbit space targets. And that’s not all.

An incredibly valuable and expensive target that was hit by a Ukrainian UAV.

According to our information, it is also used in Crimea together with the S-400, so we tried to find out the coordinates of the strike to understand which SAM system the station was working with this time.

But not Ukrainian drones a few feet away going ~150km/h 🤣

If you don’t like your expensive assets destroyed maybe don’t attack other countries? Could be worth a thought, don’t you think?
