I can kinda understand where the pearl clutching is coming from because in my own conversations with people in my country, which has a pretty low Jewish population, there’s been a lot of ignorance about the Holocaust and antisemitism more broadly, so I can understand why there’s an aversion to any narrative or term that can be weaponized by antisemites (those sorts of things fester among those who are ignorant about history) but it’s perhaps the most appropriate website in the web to have these conversations safely.

Her comment got over 200 likes or something around there, and there were 7 positive replies to it (usually just stuff like clapping emojis) before I had to be the 8th reply and the first to call it out. I got a fair amount of likes, but after I commented, I just muted notifications because I don’t wish to engage further. It’s not worth it.
But what I ultimately see as the beneficial takeaway of all of this is the validation of these key beliefs of mine:
- My skepticism of most “leftists” is totally justified.
- My skepticism of white people is totally justified.
- My refusal to ever date out again is totally justified.
