    Is having an elevator as a front door a real thing or do these kind of tv shows just like them better?

      My mother used to live in one like that during her uni years (shared of course with other flatmates) The apartment door was immediately in front of the elevator. The building had only one flat per floor

        Do you know where they had to unlock their ‘front door’? This is such a weird concept for me.

          iirc they had like half a metre between the flat door and the actual elevator door. You’d open the door to leave and immediately face the elevator door. Similarly you’d leave the elevator and find yourself right in front of the flat door. I could be wrong though, so take this with a pinch of salt. I haven’t been there myself.
