California is not even in the top 20 (homicide rates, FBI data).
Alabama #4, California #25
Birmingham #6, Oakland, #37 LA #41
In 2023, the United States had the highest homicide rate among G7 countries, with 5.76 homicides per 100,000 inhabitants.
This was significantly higher than other G7 nations like Canada (1.98 per 100,000) and Japan (0.23 per 100,000). The US firearm homicide rate is also notably higher than that of other industrialized countries, with some studies showing it to be 26 times greater.
Everyone in America has already lost this competition. Californians and Alabamans are arguing over whose shit stinks worse, while they’re up to their hips in excrement.
LA is a third world country.
Louisiana, that is.
Can’t be, third world countries often have publicly funded healthcare
I was in Louisiana for work a few times last year, my first visits to the state. I can’t stand their politics, but their music and food are first rate. I could live there if their politics weren’t so offensive.
That could honestly apply to a ton of shitty states.
alabama calling california a third world country is fucking hilarious
They are literally known as “incest capital of the world” and think they have any right to criticize anyone.
They have a laughable GDP on the world stage. California could be it’s own country and be in the top 5
California is basically a glorified scam call center calling itself big tech, so thats not a flex.
That’s your opinion man, there are much more sectors than tech.
But those arent responsible for that insane GDP
Rough breakdown, information sector is in the third place.

I’m an Okie. My great great grandfather raped and impregnated his daughter, which no one had a real issue with or did anything about.
But you can be damn sure any gay man in eastern Oklahoma at that time was going to end up in a ditch.
the stoopid gene amplifies when your family tree is a wreath
It’s funny, because alabama (or maybe a part of it?) has (had?) the highest density of Ph.D.s in the country because of research and government (I think a NASA facility). I wonder, with our current bullshit about research funding and our government’s anti-truth approach to things that don’t make companies money, if there is already a notable reduction in educated folks in these already education-barren locations.
If it wasn’t for NASA’s Huntsville facility, Alabama’s aggregate IQ would be in negative numbers.
I was researching for a best man speech and saw that statistically West Virginia takes the title but hey, they’re close behind I’m sure [no pun intended]
Ok I’m curious, how do incest statistics work their way into a best man speech
“We’re here to celebrate the union of my best bro with his fiancee, who is statistically my step-sister and his step-mother…”
Haha, it’s a fair question. The bride was from Virginia and the groom was from Norfolk in the UK which is renown for a bit of family lovin’ so I felt the connection needed highlighting :)
Any southern state really. Not one of them have room to talk. And for GA and NC I can say that from first hand experience.
At this point maybe California should just become independent. Giving their money to states like Alabama is just a waste of resources.
I don’t like letting the literal Russian psyops win but at a certain maybe it’s time to admit they did and cut our losses
i mean, we eventually did that with Bin Laden
Tuberville did accidentally make one valid point. The rule of law is indeed non-existent. Just look at that convicted felon in the White House and all the illegal stuff he’s still doing.
Turns out people don’t like it when you kidnap their friends and family.
Of course, perhaps conservatives don’t understand this.
That’s because conservatives think they’ll always be the kidnappers.
Imagine if Obama did this exact same series of events. He wouldn’t have gotten this far, because he’d be assassinated, or at the very least impeached, by now.
Because the rules for conservative and liberals are very different.
Democrats, by in large, respect the rule of law and their base will reject candidates that don’t. Conservatives simply want to be the ones giving orders and not necessarily following them. So the Venn diagram of mutual interests only intersects when a democrat does something that both sides disagree with.
Republicans cry foul whenever a Democrat exceeds the debt ceiling but you don’t hear a fucking peep from them when Trump causes the national debt to lower our credit rating.
We need to purge ourselves from conservatives. And the window to do so is closing quickly.
Losing friends and family is normal to a conservative.
of course not no one’s kidnapping white folks
Yet, but it’s coming. They’re just warming up on the foreigners. They’re easy targets, and good for getting the system up and operating.
But they have lots of enemies besides undocumented immigrants, and sooner or later, they will start coming for them. My family has multiple people in vulnerable demographics, so I’m staying alert.
There are a lot of red lines, and I have been questioning myself as to when it will come time to go rogue, but I am clear that if ANYTHING happens to my son, it’s on, and I will become VERY dangerous.
Until then, I am stockpiling food and defensive gear, camping gear, losing weight, getting in shape, etc. I’m training for civil war, hoping I’m wasting my time, but I don’t think I am. This is going to get LOT worse before it gets better. The only question is how worse.
They have, in fact, been kidnapping white folks… just not their white folks.
fair enough
“Alabama has 3X the homicide rate of California,” Newsom wrote Monday in a post to X.
Meanwhile, over here in California, kids are literate. Alabama can’t claim that.
Fuck you, Tommy, you stupid piece of shit. I don’t love my gov (I quite dislike him, though he’s been all right in the last two days). At least his name doesn’t sound childish: Tommy Tuberville, the guy who held up military promotions because he’s a bigot. Get fucked, bud.
Meanwhile, over here in California, kids are literate.
California, shockingly, has the lowest literacy rate of any state
“We really haven’t been investing” for decades, she said. “We’ve been underspending the entire time.”
California, currently sitting on a surplus bigger than many states’ entire budgets, has for years spent less – about 13 percent less – than the national average on K-12 schools. Recent research shows that even high-performing California students score lower on standard tests than their counterparts in better performing states.
School spending, of course, is only one factor shaping California’s dismal literacy rate. The state has the most diverse population in the country, more than 200 languages are spoken here. California also has the biggest wealth chasm.
…
Parental education might be the biggest factor. But income disparity – which is linked to parental education – plays a role as well. A big role. States with large percentages of highly literate parents unsurprisingly had highly proficient 8th graders, according to the National Center for Education Statistics.
Those states also had, among other things, more libraries per capita than the national average.
California has the most public libraries of any state, with 1,130, said State Librarian Greg Lucas, but because of its huge population, the state falls below the per-capita national average. California has 4.5 libraries per 100,000, and the national average is 5.2.
Lucas said public libraries help school kids who speak one of California’s 200-plus languages to find reading material, while also helping adults whose hopes of a better job require some level of literacy.
…
“There are stacks of studies that show that caregivers who talk, read and sing help build an appetite for reading. And there’s another big stack that says a kid succeeds better at a school with a teacher librarian,” he added.
California, unfortunately, trails the pack on that measure, too. The state has about 900 teacher-librarians (credentialed teachers with a library sciences degree) for its more than 6 million school kids. Texas has around 4,300 such specialists and a million fewer kids.
Even with this revised data, California has some of the worst literacy rates in the nation to the point of being worse that Alabama
It’s not the biased bullshit that you first presented. You’re still called out.
Oh fuck. They’re gonna force Newsom for 2028 aren’t they.
Exactly what it looks like. He is becoming the face of the opposition. Just another establishment candidate. 🙄
I was a supporter for a while, but the more I get to know him, the less I like him. He’s just another Corporatist Republican-Lite Democrat, and those are the losers that got HitlerPig elected in the first place. If he becomes President, HitlerPig, or someone worse, will be back in office in 2032.
I want the next Democratic president to be an aggressive, no apology, hard core reformer, who isn’t afraid to stand up to Sociopathic Oligarchs and Traitors.
If he were to get elected in 2028, the 2032 election is guaranteed a Nazi win with a leader that isn’t wholly incompetent the next time. No one should primary that shit stain.
If things keep escalating it’ll be interesting to see who is still alive to run in 2028
I mean, he probably would have won in 2024. Would be better than what we’re seeing now.
He wouldnhave ran the exact same campaign as Harris, who ran the exact same campaign as Clinton. Why do you think Newsom would do any better?
Penis. He would’ve done better because he has one, and a non-negligible percentage of our voters are sexist.
Biden was fairly popular in 2020 and only squeaked out a victory because the morgues were literally overflowing with dead bodies from COVID. Until the Democrats start advocating for total reforms, they will continue to lose elections.
Assuming the exact campaign, which I’m not even conceeding here. What percentage of votes do you think a white male who hasn’t thrown people in jail for drugs as a prosecutor could have drummed up?
I’m thinking there’s a 5 - 15% spread there, easy.
He’s also got a lot more wit and charisma, so even the same “Trump bad” campaign would have been more effective.
While I liked both Harris and Biden, this last election proved you need to be a white make and you need to be loud and argumentative. Policies, intelligence, ethics, competence are no longer important. Biden biggest mistake was laying out the foundation that would make america better over a decade, when people are clamoring for immediate action, or at least noise and chaos. Newsom can stand there and argue with the fascists.
Libs have never met a white male moderate they wouldn’t vote for over any woman of color or socialist.
Honestly it’s charisma more than anything. JFK, Johnson Clinton, gore doesn’t have it, Kerry doesn’t have it, Obama has it, Hillary doesn’t have it, Biden doesn’t really but post trump litterally a walking corpse worked. Kamala doesn’t have it, and people have goldfish memories.
Ok, but let’s not pretend gore didn’t win. It was just close enough in the final state that the supreme court gave it to Bush rather than keep recounting
Well, Bush and Trump aren’t exactly charismatic either.
Trump is charismatic to low IQ and racist people and has a ton of propaganda being churned out on social media. Also right wing voters are more consistent getting out to vote and will almost always rally behind their guy. If gore had any personality he would have smoked bush who while not exactly charismatic he was someone people “could have a beer with”. Carter wasn’t very charismatic but probably the best person to hold the office and won on the back of Nixon and Watergate, much like Biden winning after Trump’s first term.
This seems a little begging the question.
Even if it wasn’t, it’s a little damning to liberals who now seem to only like a candidate if they think they are “charismatic”, which seems suspiciously ill-defined.
It’s the apathetic voters/ moderates that get on board with charisma. The right has a far more dependable base when it comes to getting out to vote. I think newsome is a scumbag but he’s a much more electable candidate than Harris. His shift to the right recently is gross and is the opposite of what Dems need. I have never liked him as a person but I used to generally agree with his positions, and was far more ok with him running before the last 8 mo or so. AOC would be a better candidate than him, she would inspire people to vote and I think she can overcome the the misogyny and racism by getting a bigger number to vote. Newsome could probably win but would be pulling more votes from Rs than he would bringing more votes to the table.
No offense, but what is even the point of your politics if it can be boiled down to, “sure, this guy has terrible policies and I hate the guy personally, but he can win so I’ll support him anyway”?
Democrats will never win if all they campaign on is ‘we just want the most charismatic person’. People already don’t have any faith in our democratic system, and now we’re just flat out telling them ‘the only thing we care about is aesthetics’.
Big yikes.
It’s called pragmatism. Democrats might not be great as a whole but at least their policies generally trend in the right direction and things slowly get better with Democrats like him vs a rapid decline when Republicans get control. I’m not willing to burn it all down, if the other choice is slow improvement. I think he’s a true politician, which I find a distasteful trait, but mostly he’s been a decent governor and it’s really been his rhetoric lately, trying to appeal to the right, I really don’t like about him. I have young children. I can’t torch my life being radical, even if I generally lean to the far left of the spectrum.
Moderate?
No thank you.
“Alabama has 3X the homicide rate of California,” Newsom wrote Monday in a post to X.
“Its murder rate is ranked third in the entire country. Stick to football, bro.”
Fucking tuberville doesn’t even understand what the rule of law means. He thinks it’s people respecting police or something.
I would remind people of the “come over for supper” rule. Call your neighbor a shit head, fine. But they’re welcome to come for supper. What’s the plan? Just chisel California off and let it drift?
What third world country charges $2700 for a 1br
Switzerland
Nice to see at least one other person understands the definition of “Third World Country”
Since the dissolution of the Soviet Union the meaning has shifted from non-aligned to underdeveloped or developing nations.
That or a reggae fusion band from Kingston Jamaica.
Under the old definition, has Krasnov made the USA a second world nation?
