Donald Trump has said he will impose a 50% tariff on all EU imports to the US from 1 June after claiming trade talks between the two trading blocs were “going nowhere”.
In a surprise announcement, the US president posted on his Truth Social platform that his long-running battle to secure concessions from the EU had stalled.
He accused the EU of taking advantage of the US on trade, saying: “Our discussions with them are going nowhere! Therefore I am recommending a straight 50% Tariff on the European Union, starting on June 1, 2025.”
Let’s do a China on the Yanks
But, but – he said before they were kissing his ass.
What a trump thing to do. Someone doesn’t give the petulant king what he wants so he has a tantrum and lashes out.
surprise announcement
Who is surprised? I am not.
That’s OK, we may lose some profits not selling to USA, but at least we can make our own stuff, and trade with China.
USA on the other hand…deleted by creator
Canada would be happy to trade with the E.U. given that we’re also being fucked over by the U.S.
We are absolutely willing to trade with Canada more too. And we already have what AFAIK is a pretty good agreement from 2017.
It eliminates duties on 99% of all tariff lines, of which 98% were scrapped when it provisionally entered into force;
But despite that already good agreement there are talks of working even tighter together.
If usa wants to go all isolationist again be my guest, there are many more countries willing to fill the void left by the usa
