On April 14, 1975, Division 3 under Military Region 5 launched an offensive against the enemy's defensive line in Phan Rang. Naval commandos and forces from Military Region 5 successfully liberated Song Tu Tay Island. The Politburo approved naming the campaign to liberate Saigon–Gia Dinh as the Ho Chi Minh Campaign.
