I know that sign is there because someone tried to do this, but I can’t imagine what had to happen for someone to walk face first into their own reflection lol

I wonder if it mostly happens when people are looking down at their phones. There is a pole on my campus that I have seen multiple people walk into while texting. Then again, my cat has been trying to fight her doppelganger in the mirror for years now and she’s smarter than a few people I know.

I kinda doubt that since this is a store. I doubt you’d be on your phone while trying to pick some shoes. It probably happened due to the angle of the mirror, as its in a corner on certain angles you wouldn’t see your reflection until the last second. If you are a fast walker it may be impossible to stop your momentum until its too late.

That actually happened with a former coworker of mine, the clumsiest person I’ve ever met. (Me being the second one)

One of the bathrooms at the hotel we were staying at had a mirror covering the entire wall. Of course the clumsy guy tried to walk into the mirror, bashing his face. It was hilarious!

I wonder, aside from other potential explanations, if our brain recognizes it’s us and momentarily ignores it. Delaying the recognition and connection just a little too long.

I thought the same thing. Though it looks like the mirror is at an angle in the corner so I could imagine approaching it from the left or right means you don’t see your reflection until you connect with it.
