Here’s a video from Oh The Urbanity!, a resident of Toronto, on the stupidity of removing these specific bike lanes, and the insanity of Ontario making expensive, self-destructive traffic decisions for Toronto’s residents.

Oh The Urbanity! is a couple, and they live in Montreal. They previously lived in Toronto, but I think it’s been a decade or more.

Ah, OK. They seemed to know the streets well and the ongoing political process, at least.

It genuinely feels like he is throwing a tantrum because he never got to run the city and Chow is doing a way better job than he ever could. How the hell did we end up with this fool?

How is that a fair attitude to people who didn’t vote for the government in power?

That sub is so toxic. I fully support vote reform, though my preferred system is ranked choice/mixed member proportional. Any comments asking legitimate questions about how 100% proportion representation would work in Canada is shot down, and often deleted.

I’m not a fan of straight proportional representation, because it undercuts and devalues ridings and constituencies.

I’m not going to pretend to know the real solution though.

That’s not entirely accurate as the electoral systems mixed-member proportional and the single transferable vote under the proportional representation family both retain the local representation. It’s only the party-lists system that abolishes local ridings.

I’ve (now I see incorrectly) understood straight proportional representation to be party-list proportional.
