Another week in the books. Let’s chat about manga in the general discussion thread! Feel free to use this thread for questions, comments, recommendations, etc.
Like normal, please be careful with spoilers. I wrote a guide about spoilers in case you need a refresher on how to handle them (also linked in the sidebar).
I don’t have a lot to contribute this week as I have been absolutely slammed with work this past week. I have found that when my irl workload gets high, I have an easier time kicking back to some anime rather than reading manga. So, this has resulted in my manga backload growing quite a bit unfortunately. So, in the absence of talking about series that I enjoyed this past week, I thought I would write about series that I wish got updates. I scrolled through my library and just picked out the first few examples that caught my eye (except Star Tripper since that one was on my mind and prompted this topic).
I really wish there was more of this series to read on Mangadex (I think raws go to chapter 27). I absolutely adored the dark whimsy of this series. It reminded me a lot of Adventure Time in that everything about the aesthetic is cute and fun, but there is a hidden darkness to it all that everybody has just accepted. If my request could reach the ears of any scanlation groups out there, this is the one I would would ask for.
This was a fun little jaunt that seems to have been dropped by the translator. I think the series is completed and ends with chapter 20. It’s really silly and I enjoyed what I read, so I wish somebody would just wrap up the second half of the series so that I could clear it out of my library.
This is another one where the first half of it was translated and posted to Mangadex, but then it stopped. The final chapter is 37, so only 18 more to go! The storytelling was pretty nonconventional in this one, so I am curious to see how things progressed as the story went.
This one didn’t get too far in before it was dropped by the translator, but the raws have finished up now with chapter 25. It was pretty dang cute and wholesome, despite its protagonist being a severely overworked salaryman. I really want to see more of this one!
I didn’t spend much time reading last week but I would like to thank @wjs018@ani.social for mentioning The Moon on a Rainy Night in the last thread. While I’m not yet finished with all the currently available chapters, it has been a pretty engaging read so far and I can definitely see what you meant when describing it. It ventures into a very familiar territory and I kind of dread of what may or may not await me in the near future but I’ll keep going regardless - I’m too invested to bail now.
Really glad that you have liked it! I am up to date with what has been released and I am happy to say that it has not yet gotten too real or depressing (for me anyway). In fact, more recent chapters have taken on an air of optimism that has been a bit refreshing. There is a really big reunion that I am still waiting to see and hope it happens soon.
That’s good to hear. I don’t expect it to go all grimdark all of a sudden, mostly just reacting to some familiar tones and where they might go - doesn’t make me any less interested in continuing though.
Picked up and completed Webtoon Character Na Kang Lim. This is basically Edge of Tomorrow / Re:Zero starring

in a harem romcom. There are cliche moments which made me thought it was overrated initially, but a decent execution of such a premise made for an entertaining (and one of my fastest) binge.
