 - And that was only one category they objected to. - Yeah, I’m gonna go out on a limb and say that that probably wasn’t gonna be a winnable war for the Russian government. - Hol up, Kagi is indexing discord servers? - No, that’s from some “disboard.org” service that I linked to. I just used Kagi to find that page. - Ahh OK that makes sense thanks

- So … how mad at Putin does this make Russian gamers? Mad at all? Do they care? - There are an estimated 30-40 million users is Russia, with the majority being men age 25-34. The overall goal is likely to criminalize it so they can be forced to enter military service or go to jail. - criminalize it so they can be forced to enter military service or go to jail - Sorry if I’ve missed something obvious, but how does Discord being legal or not in any way influence conscription policies which ALREADY carried join-or-go-to-jail, enforced by the people who have the guns? - Like, I’m not seeing the relationship. - The mandatory conscription for men age 18-30 only lasts one year. This can force them back into military service and be used to enhance selective enforcement against dissidents. - Ah that makes a lot more sense: I had just assumed conscription was quite a lot longer than just a year for some reason. - It’s certainly a good target if you wanted to criminalize the group of people you want to conscript since the overlap is probably pretty much 100%.

- They let criminals out of jail and send them to the meat grinder

- It’s fine, they use Dropbox to share classified info on the world of tanks forums
- Kinda mad, but this won’t make them go on a Kremlin. I don’t know what will. - Would still be way way worse if Steam got blocked. - Source: Russian gamer, talking to other Russian gamers

- Oh well it’s already a better app. without them.
