The US has not signed the ILO convention C095 - Protection of Wages Convention, 1949 (No. 95)

Literally:
Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction.
Gives some context to why US judges give people of colour disproportionately long sentences for a given crime.
That’s just slavery with extra steps!
